Last summer I attended a 2-day writing seminar for educators, A Neon Color Calls Me. We did some great writing for such a brief time period! Not only that, but the writing was integrated with fine arts, which I learned was called Ekphrastic Poetry. As an educator, I was thrilled to find professional development that also served my personal development as a writer. Plus, I got some great lessons to use with my students.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the Neon Color Calls Me writing seminar
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
writing Ekphrastic Poetry. I loved integrating the arts with writing, and I especially loved doing it at the DIA.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
extremely knowledgeable and helpful; very inspirational.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
unlock so much potential with student writers across the metro Detroit area! Field trips to the DIA for everyone! Compilations of student writings for publication! Notebooks for every student!
How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
About once a year
