IC Stars is a great organization. They have developed a wonderful database tool that we use in our organization every day. Not only is the tool very helpful, but they too, are very helpful whenever we have questions or need additional support. Great organization with a great mission doing great things!
The Great!
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... Their continued support whenever we need assistance and their great attititudes while doing it!
Ways to make it better!
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... Lack of man power/money/resources.. We could all use more of those things!
I was a Former staff & I completed the intership and became part of the family.

I am an alum of i.c.stars, and the organization has really changed my life. Prior to the internship I was doing ok really just cruising by in life. But once I got into the program I really just began to open up and blossom. I gained much more than the great hands on knowledge and experience. I really latched on to the culture of the brand and wanted to be present to help develop it into a realization of the vision of the founders. I know have the opportunity to give back and help build and lead under served communities in and around the city.
The Great!
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... Expand even faster and reach many more people in other states and countries.
Ways to make it better!
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... the ever changing environment of technology, which is the skill set that interns are trained in, and staying 2 steps ahead of the curve. Also there is still a very active battle involving the breaking of stereotypes and prejudging.
I was a Professional with expertise in this field & i've met and interviewed several alumni for job placement opportunities.

I've met dozens of I.C.Stars alumni and I am so impressed with who they are and what they've accomplished! I.C.Stars alumni have proven their ambition and their willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done! What organization can do without people like these? This is a great organization to support and a great group of people to hire!
The Great!
- I've seen the results of this organization in... using the Technology Leaders Association Web site. It is well supported, well designed and provides great functionality - obviously with very low cost of ownership. They clearly selected a great platform for the site - and they're very responsive.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... The benefits alumni gain from their program are countless and immediately obvious. Rarely do you see such immediate results from such a small donation of your time or expertise.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... Amazing, generous, selfless, talented, kind, funny, strong, ...
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... Accept more candidates; branch out to more cities; literally save more lives. This organization provides a sustainable life altering career change to inner city youth at risk.
Ways to make it better!
- My experience would have been better if... I could have placed every single one of the folks I've met in a position. They are just wonderful people.
- If I ran this organization, I would... It hurs my heart to hear that 400 candidates apply for only 10 or 11 positions in each cycle. What can we do to get more people into programs like this?
- In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are... I think they probably could use more financial support and more job placement opportunities.
- One thing I'd also say is that... This organization does the most effective job I've ever seen in erasing poverty in the inner city. I.C. Stars alumni experience on average a 240% increase in annual income when they get thier first job in the tech sector.

- I've seen the results of this organization in... my internship that i had with cycle 20. I was able to be a part of a great organization that let me work with other great minds in responding to an RFP, Building an Ecommerce Business, and Building two Websites all in 4 months time.
- What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is... is all the new great friends and mentors that are now part of my life and the suggestions, advice, and training that i will take with me to forever and use in my new found career in IT.
- The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were... Outstanding in every way. True experts and true believers that were with me every step of the way during my internship and up to this day still offering their experience and advice.
- If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could... change perceptions not only on a local scale but in a world wide scale, changing the way we look at our communities, professions, and technology. The community leaders goal would be reached and met and we would have to look at a much higher numbertoachiev
Ways to make it better!
- If I ran this organization, I would... change nothing.
- One thing I'd also say is that... I would work for this organization in a heart beat.
The Inner-City Computer Stars Foundation has given me the opportunity to develop and improve my business, leader and technical skills. As an intern, I.C.Stars has broadened my network by introducing me to C.E.O'S and other top executives at tea. The Inner-City Computer Stars Foundation focuses on giving back to others, the community and beyond. I had technical knowledge but now I have a purpose for utilizing that knowledge to help others. I never knew I could use my passion to change the world.
