I've volunteered with several non-profits in the Chicago area in a variety of fundraising support roles. Humanity First amazed me in its capability to organize, advertise and run large scale fundraising events with a very small amount of overhead. Nearly all of the donated funds (something like 92 or 93%) go to either established long-term programs or short-term relief operations. Additionally, the Director of Fundraising has an ability to both identify and execute on great ad hoc communications ideas to increase donations and participation in the major fundraising events such as the national walkathons.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
very professional. Many on the staff came from consulting backgrounds, and they were able to use that experience to plan and run a well organized and effective fundraising event.
