The Human Race has been the great theatre company as long as I can remember. They always provide a great time in Dayton Ohio. I have enjoyed each show I have been to.

I began as an usher many years ago and have been a season subscriber ever since. The productions are always first-rate in terms of both acting and scenery. I particularly enjoy the fact that the plays are ones that I usually have not seen previously. The intimacy of the theatre is another plus.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

speaking with many others in the community that attend and enjoy the wide variety of plays and the fine acting as much as I have. Everyone that I know that has attended at least some of the plays considers the Human Race to be a great community asset.

I have been a fan of the Human Race Theatre for a number of years. The productions are always first rate and the range of shows is spectacular, particularly for a regional theater company. I highly recommend supporting this great community asset.

Unlike a major presenting organization which offers large-scale shows brought in by touring companies and the like, this company produces plays and musicals which usually would not be feasible on a large mainstage. Sometimes their shows are not of mainstream appeal but that is what is so appealing to their audiences and distinguishes them. Being an Actors Equity company, their casts, sets and staging of the highest quality. Being a local producing company, they nurture the actors and backstage workers within this community. Their productions are consistently outstanding and regularly win top reviews and local DayTony awards. Many resident artists have been inducted into the Dayton Theatre Hall of Fame. Their Musical Theatre Workshop program has attracted important playwrights to come to Dayton test their ideas and help develop the hits of tomorrow. We fully support their programs buy subscribing to their perfomance season, donating to their annual fund campaigns, attending their fund-raisers, and joining theirEncore Circle (legacy society)

The Great!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Getting to know and work with their artists and staff

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Extremely dedicated to the mission of the Human Race Theatre Company.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Add to its endowment; pay the artists and staff more in line with they're really worth; produce more musicals (which are always more expensive).

The HRT is an awesome asset in the Dayton region! Amazing productions. The directing, staging, costumes and overall quality can't be beat, especially for the reasonable price. And it's produced locally!

The productions are well directed, well acted and set beautifully. The theatre is a perfect performance venue, being small and intimate, but containing all of the technological niceties of a much larger theatre. The Human Race Theatre is well managed,on decent financial footing given the current economic climate and always in search of the next great play to produce for it audience. The theatre is a jewel in the Dayton community.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the enjoyable experiences of others who have attended its performances and spoken of those experiences as well as being quite satisfied myself with my experiences with the organization.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

give it a huge endowment

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the superior performances of its well matched actors; the challenging plays it picks to produce

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

helpful, competent, focused, committed

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

be assured of success.

Ways to make it better...

the house had been sold out.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the same things facing all members of the Arts community - money, appreciation, audience.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Dayton would be a much less of a great arts community without the Human Race Theatre

I have had the pleasure of watching and supporting The Human Race Inc. since its inception and it never ceases to amaze me how this group has grown in stature and ability. I think that I have seen better than 80% of the offerings and though I enjoyed some plays more than others, I ALWAYS was impressed with the talent and staging.I'm not a big fan of great profanity, but I guess that it is currently part of theater. I would give the organization a big "10".

I attended the Human Race Theatre's (Dayton, OH) production of "A Vertical Hour" about two weeks ago. It was very well staged and the actors were excellent. The play was extremely thought provoking and should have provided a "talk back" session following each show. I'm sure it struck a familiar chord with audience members who have ever questioned their life decisions based on convenience or conscience!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

so many ways...as board member to audience member! I have seen what a difference it has made in young people's lives through their summer programs and in the production of new musicals which are tried, tested and evaluated by people like myself!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

do a better job of educating people about the difference between a regional theatre vs a road show!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The Human Race Theatre is human in all respects: thinking and feeling and responding and contradicting and annoying and inspiring. See a play and become human. A totally professional and warm organization adding so much to the vibrancy of the Dayton community. Show me those people who say there is nothing to do in Dayton and I will show you someone who has not been human or to the Human Race.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

reading current dramas to help decide their next seasons.
