HUDSON RIVER COMMUNITY SAILING INC Reviews
Invite friends and colleagues to share their experiences with this nonprofit
November 6, 2012
I have both donated and volunteered with Hudson River Community Sailing (HRCS) and am a huge fan of this organization. HRCS's "Sail Academy" recruits students from New York public high schools and engages them in a year of academic after school programming using sailing and boat building as its medium. The program has had amazing success in improving both the students' interest and skills in math and science. Not to mention teaching the students the importance of teamwork and leadership. The staff is intensely dedicated and committed to making sailing accessible to all members of the community, often working weekends and late nights to help grow the organization and to make it a success in the face of minimal resources. I highly recommend supporting this organization by volunteering and/or making a donation. Given that HRCS is located on the Hudson River, they are especially in need of donations to help recover from Hurricane Sandy.
