Programs: The Chorus performs over 75 concerts each year to audiences that annually exceed 750,000. The Houston Children’s Chorus is divided into three levels or performing groups:
· The Preparatory Choir, an entry-level choir for children in grades 2 and 3, for which no audition is required;
· The Town Choir, a training choir consisting of children in grades 4 through 8 who pass an audition; and
· The Concert Choir, our highest-level choir, which consists of children who pass a rigorous audition after completing at least one year in the Town Choir and/or demonstrating strong musical ability and readiness to perform at an advanced level.
The Town Choir and Concert Choir rehearse for three hours every Sunday afternoon, from September through early June (except for breaks coinciding with major holidays). The Preparatory Choir rehearses for one hour each week.

This is Houston's best-kept secret! These highly disciplined children represent the united nations in Houston! I have heard them perform classical music with the finest quality of singing. I have heard them sing "Texas music" for visiting dignitaries and world leaders. I have heard them sing for weddings and church/synagogue services. They are truly remarkable! I have followed this group as a volunteer/supporter for the past 21 years. I am constantly amazed at their discipline, musicianship, manners, focus, and flexibility.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
blessing the thousands upon thousands of audiences they perform for each year. As a volunteer, I have witnessed many of their performances and activities. Their angelic voices bring audiences to tears!
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
They are extremely organized and well-managed. The conductor is world-class. The staff is small, but hard-working.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
Genuine, hard-working, diverse. As in any children's organization, you have some wacky parents. This group seems to control the "wacky" and puts them to work in a unique way.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Reach hundreds more children from the greater Houston area. They already provide numerous scholarships for underserved children, but with 10 million bucks they could have their own rehearsal hall and performance space and provide unlimited scholarships!
