"The House Of Charity" is simply an amazing organization that cares for the surrrounding comunity agencies that are dedicated to helping those who are less fortunate. Each school kit donated will help one of our Children here at "The Bridge Over Troubled Waters" to be prepared for that exciting first day of school! The Hygiene kits will help aid our victims that enter emergency shelter with no personal items, after fleeing for safet. The staff, clients, and volunteers appreciate all of the support that is recieved from " The House Of Charity" and look forward to a long lasting relationship.

As the Founder/Director of Fertile Ground "Christian Transformation Center", a non-profit organization in Houston,TX. I have found that the House of Charity far exceeds all expectaions. The services they provide are of maximum benefit to those served In both Health and Social Justice.Fertile Ground Houses and provides services for Men and Women returning from prison. This population of people return to their communities with many many needs. My affiliation with the House of Charity has enhanced my ability to serve multitudes in the arena of Restorative Justice. We participate in the Better Homes, Chicken Day, Sweety, and Hope Day Programs provided ny this terrific organization.

Great Work done by this small dynamic organization here in Houston and other countries serving the most needy. Keep it up! more

I have donated time and money to House of Charity since 1998. Its founder, Hashmat Effendi is one remarkable woman I am blessed to know. I am proud to be associated with her mission which is delivered with total dedication and selflessness.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The care they provide to children with dire medical needs. Hashmat Effendi, the soul of the charity, is a remarkable humanitarian dedicated to delivering health care to the poor and needy children of the world. Over the years I have seen her help thousands of children from USA, Mexico, Salvador, Guatemala, Bolivia, Colombia, Jordan, Spain, Russia, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Vietnam and other countries.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Hire some paid professionals as the charity is run entirely by volunteers. Even Hashmat does not get a salary - she should!

I assisted this charity last year and due to my finding I will not recommend it for any assistance of volunteering or donating funds. I helped with the children that were here from Pakistan. I saw and found things that would be considered as unethical for a non-profit organization especially one that is supposed to be helping children. I am from Pakistan and so is the Executive Director, Hashmat Effendi, and it saddens me to see this non-profit organization getting away with the tactics she uses. I checked BBB and her income is $731,709 and her expenses are $731,709 but on this site has her income $810,893 and expenses are $804,613. Well, which one is correct??????

My child was provided Medical Treatment for 10+ years and underwent more than 50 Surgical Procedures (some very complex ones) thanks to The House of Charity and particularly its Executive Director Hashmat Effendi. All the medical care was organized by House of Charity and provided without any costs to the family. God bless Hashmat and her organization! Amen!

The Great!

My child life and health is owed to the successful efforts of The House of Charity.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make no changes.

What specific problem, purpose, priority, or project prompted your gift?

The passion, integrity and drive of its angelic Founder and Executive Director Hashmat Effendi to help indigent children in distress no matter where they may be - in the US, Central or Latin America or Asia. If she can help a child she spares no effort to help it.

Why did you make your donation at this time?

I have been donating to the organization regularly for over a decade.

What would you tell others about this organization?

Organization does good charitable work in USA and overseas. Its Founder and Executive Director Hashmat Effendi is a great embodiment of American values and charity that she effectively projects as an American Ambassador of Goodwill in her overseas missions and travels.

Great nonprofit doing excellent work on a shoestring budget! I have been donating to House of Charity for many years and have observed them at close range. In my estimation they leverage their dollar intake 1:15 which is excellent. They provide surgical services to the indigent, run a Healing Home for convalescing children and provide youth services - all at no cost to the beneficiaries.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The tangible and intangible results in the lives of children and young adults they have served.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

be hard pressed to produce the results the charity has been able to produce in the resources available to them.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Dedication of the leadership, staff and volunteers.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Grrreat! Absolutely delightful founder!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Leveraged 1:15 that would translate into huge amount of services they would be able to deliver.

Ways to make it better...

I could spend more time volunteering with the charity.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

They do a lot of work very efficiently. They should find avenues to capitalize that into more donations.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Excellent destination for your dollars!

I made a donation to this non profit organization. I wish I would have waited until I knew more about them. The Founder and Excutive Director, Hashmat Effandi, is a liar and a theift. I thought she helped local children. The fact is she only helps children from Packistain. I will not be making anymore kind donations. I found this site and decided to write this review in hopes of others to read about her and her orginization. Houston has several "real" local charities and I will do my research prior to make a donation!!!!!

I have read all House o Charity reviews and I have to agree with the write up on June 21, 2012. This charity needs to be STOPPED. I work with other charities and as far as helping children....she only helps Pakistani children. I looked at the web-site www.houseofcharity.com and also reflects whom she helps. Take a look and it will make you sick to your stomach. The children are burn victims have cleft lip and cleft palate deformities. We in America know what cause this in children. As far as the children that are burn victims it is also caused by the people in Pakistan and we American also know what cause this. The few that are brought here to Houston are a symphony case so Hashmat Effendi can look like she is helping children. Well, the truth to be know we need o STOP Hashmat from getting our US Grant money. We are American and she is from Pakistan and helps ONLY her Country with OUR money. There is a review from Central Somalia and we American's well never forget what happen there. Shame on you "HASHMAT EFFENDI". I just read the
weseme November 2009 review and the comment about the USED car is crazy...she drives a Lexus RX and the entire family drives nice cars that we Americans are paying for with US GRANT money. It is amazing how US Grant money can be used for a Pakistan charity.
