I became a volunteer at Hospice by The Bay a year ago because they have helped care for many of my friends and family who chose to die using hospice care. In 1988 I called Hospice by The Bay to help when my partner who was dying requested hospice care. The compassionate care given to my partner and to me came at a time of great need, and it was given in both a professional and very personal way. For years I have observed first hand the extraordinary level of care and compassion given to people who were dying... every hospice nurse, doctor, social worker, home health aid, spiritual adviser I have seen and worked with has performed at the highest possible level of caring and professionalism... I have seen Buddhist Monks making home visits, nurses carefully monitoring patients medications, a social worker finding a way to replace a patient's much needed reclining chair, volunteers shopping for women who could no longer leave their homes ... all part of an agency whose goal is to help comfort those who are facing the end of their life.... and I have heard the words " Thank you " from the people who have had Hospice there when they needed them...

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in my life and the lives of my friends and family as well as the lives of the people who have welcomed me into their home as a Hospice by The Bay Volunteer.
