The Hope House is a great concept, but the majority of the current staff fall extremely short in actually providing the much needed services that are promised to the clients and advertised to the community. The DIRECTOR, COORDINATOR, and CASE MANAGER go out of their way to belittle, berate, humiliate, and dehumanize the clients. All three also participate in gossip with clients regarding other housemates. On SEVERAL different occasions I have witnessed the coordinator withhold physician prescribed medications from clients for reasons as simple as being one minute late to the window, and even the coordinator herself coming in late. This means 'Med time' has come and gone, absolutely none of the clients received there medications, and were consequently told 'too bad'. The hope house is constantly requesting funds from the public to improve programs and toiletries clothing cleaning supllies etc yet these things are never actually bought they are also donated.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Hire a different case manager. The current case manager is unapproachable, unprofessional, and does nothing to help clients. Most of her day is spent on facebook rather than assisting or linking clients with resources. HIRE a new DIRECTOR and COORDINATOR they are dragging there clients down, as if being in a shelter isnt low enough. They have no empathy. Put the money back into the hope house and get the staf health insurance instead of bonuses for the director. where is the money going?

The only thing they provided was a roof over my head.
It is difficult to get rides, my own medications, or pretty much ANYTHING else from them because the daytime staff just doesn't seem to have the time for the clients!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Quit leaving paperwork laying around that shows the Director has received a $1,000 bonus while constantly begging donors for money for programs that DON'T exist within the Hope House! There is NO counseling available there... there are NO "faith based" programs! They don't even have any Bible Studies or Prayer Sessions! Nutrition classes don't happen, budgeting, life skills and whatever else they SAY they do is NON EXISTANT! Find a new case manager... and get some help that has empathy!
