Hope House has been for eleven years now and I only learned about it February 2014. I have sent contributions to poverty third world countries since I have worked 55 yrs now. I now volunteer as a receptionist and I see behind the scenes the work and effort put into this project and I am so impressed and thankful to be a part and know that I am making a difference for these Teen Moms and their Children. To bring this population that is in my own back yard out of poverty. I believe in this Mission and I have met the Moms that have graduated this program and they are successful women in the community. They are independently raising their own children, as do many single moms in our community today. I come from a single parent family and know the difficulties. Giving teen Moms and Children hope and a future is what it is all about. This is a Powerful life changing and giving contribution.

Hope House changes lives by helping these girls believe in themselves. They provide every resource possible for girls who have been through some rough situations. When you change a mother's life you change a child's life, children are always watching and learning from the adults around them. Lisa Stevens has created a loving and safe environment as well as a positive future for these girls and their children.

I have been a volunteer with Hope House for two years. I continue to be impressed with their mission to help teen moms learn responsibility, discipline, respect and independence as well as parenting skills. I've been involved in helping a young mom learn how to plan meals, cook and budget for meals. It was rewarding to see the transformation of this young lady from a reluctant, insecure participant to an enthusiastic, confident and productive member of Hope House. With Hope House's structure and loving guidance she became a positive and gracious contributor and leader in this home. I also have had the privilege of tutoring to help students attain their GED which is so essential to their future success. I was able to tutor a young mom in writing skills to help enable her to pass entrance testing into a community college. She is now a CNA working in a local hospital and living independently with her two children. I have also worked in the office and am able to observe the sacrificial commitment of each of the staff. I'm encouraged by the staff's priorities and stewardship of the monies donated to help these young moms. Hope House is making a positive difference for many teen moms and for our society.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

everyone's grateful spirit in the office. Also it's been rewarding to personally observe change and success in several young mom's lives.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

gracious and very helpful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

have greater impact on more young teen moms and pay the staff what they deserve.

In the four years that I have been involved with Hope House, I have seen girls turn their lives around due to the help and direction they find from the staff at Hope House. The Staff is so dedicated to the girls and their children. To see the love and care they show is truly amazing! I have helped to collect items for the House and for the girls. Their gratefulness for the encouragement is truly rewarding.

I have spent years working in the Social Services field & think Hope House is a wonderful program for many reasons. First, they are Christian based, so are reaching the girls on spiritual as well as physical & mental levels. Second, their program is more long term than many others out there. There goal isn't just to get teen-moms off the street, but to also train them for a job, so when they graduate they are prepared to function as adults in the world. Third, they have a wonderful staff & group of volunteers that truly care about the teenagers. Also, I feel they are reaching a population in a way no other organization is at this time. I feel the best way for this organization to improve would be to expand so they could increase the number of teen parents they are helping.

The first meeting I attended with the founders of Hope House and several board members was a real eye opener. Many nonprofits have groups of volunteers but these wonderful people were different. Their hearts were so deeply guided by their faith and their absolute desire to give these young girls and their children all they could provide. In the Bible it says in Matthew 25 that "inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me". Everyone at Hope House lives this principle wholeheartedy and they encourage trust, hope and expectation in the hearts of each and every young mom.

By brief encounters at the fund raisers I have heard first hand the stories from a few of the young ladies how Hope House has put them on a new path, a path with a future that in the past had looked so bleak.

I am constantly amazed at the thankfulness of young teen moms who utilize the G.E.D. program offered by Hope House. They come to make a beter life for themselves and their children. They are encouraged by staff and volunteers (and other teen moms like themselves) to complete this first step and to move forward to a career that will enable them to make a meaningful contribution to society while enriching their future. I have seen the change in these young ladies and marvel at their attitue toward life after finding out that there are people out there who genuinely care about them and their children. Hope House is a candle to light the way down a path filled with new possibilites and hope. It has been a joy to serve in this small way to help another on her journey towards success. May God continue to bless you and your efforts, Hope House.

I have been volunteer with Hope House for a couple of years now. I have worked tutoring teen mom with her GED, I have given health talks at the House to teen moms, I have taught a teen to cook and find recipe's. With the time spent at hope House these girls are hungry for knowledge and to learn how to do things right and have the role models that are putting them on God's path to success. I wish that when I was a teen mom that I had a program like this one. It is such a great thing for the girls and their children to have a safe environment to be in.

As a mentor for a teen mom, I have seen the miracles that can happen because of Hope House's giving heart for these young girls. Without the support of Hope House, I believe most of the girls would be in dire straits. My teen mom, who I've been matched with for over a year now, has gotten her GED, paid all of her fines with the courts, has her own subsidized apartment, and is currently taking classes through the TANF program with the State. She is determined to go to college and become totally dependent as well as give back to those who have helped her. Hope House has been a blessing to so many people including myself.

I do volunteer work with a similar group, The Gabriel Project, and was just inspired by these ladies who help young mothers get on their feet, finish/attend school, work and raise their children. The fact is that the public school systems don't do much to help teen moms, and many of them drop out of school. Can you imagine supporting a family on a minimum wage job these days? Kudos to the Hope House for providing hope to young mothers!
