We have so enjoyed the performances held by The Honest Brook Musical
Festival... in the "barn" during the summer and in private homes over winter. Such lovely surroundings and memorable programs.
They continue their high standard of having such professional and
wonderful artists and
we consider ourselves so fortunate to have
them available in our area.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Bringing culture and classical music to our area and so beneficial to so many of our young aspiring musicians.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

No suggestions.

The HBMF concerts have been such treasures to be found in the beautiful Catskill Mountains. Over the past several years of attending, have found that the artists and performances have been amazing and look forward to another season. The talent is of the highest caliber and we are fortunate to have the availability of such beauty nearby.

Have attended several performances in each of the past few years, and have found their musical choices of performing artists to be consistently of the highest quality. This organization is an artistic gem to be cherished.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

their choice of superb musical artists. The rustic venue (in an old restored barn) adds a touch of charm you couldn't buy for a million dollars.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

ask them to offer even more summer concerts. Some of us in this upstate area don't like to travel to their concert venues in winter weather.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the intimate relationship of audience to performer.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

personable and friendly, as well as well informed about the performers.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand the series in number, but should not look for a change in the venue. I would fear that any substantial improvement in the physical quality of their rustic setting might detract from the charm of this series.

Ways to make it better...

they had a somewhat better parking situation. It wold be expensive to improve the grounds for parking, and it would take away some of the rural charm, but it would be more convenient in rainy weather.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

budget and the increasing cost of high quality performers - even though they seem to have the kinds of good connections to attract very good artists for the rates they can afford.

One thing I'd also say is that...

We are very lucky to have this organization operating in our area. They represent the best of their type.

Have been going to the Honest Brook concerts for the past 16 years...The artists presented are some of the finest young artists performing today. We are so lucky to have these concerts performed in a fabulous barn in the summer and in people's homes in the winter...Honest Brook Music Festival enriches the lives of our community.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The enthusiasm of the audiences.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

build a permanent concert hall that could be used both summer and winter.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The willingness of the organizers and staff to make the audience comfortable.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Thoughtful, helpful, professional and welcoming

Build a permanent Concert Hall.

Ways to make it better...

There were more than 7 concerts in a year.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Finding a way to present more artists during the year

One thing I'd also say is that...

It has open admission for youngsters, Grade K-12. This is a great way to build a future audience.

When we moved from NYC to the Catskills our friends all wondered how we could give up the city's great cultural resources. But thanks to HBMF we haven't had to. The Honest Brook concerts bring us the same quality of music we enjoyed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln center-- at affordable prices and in beautiful venues. We especially enjoy the winter concerts which are presented in people's homes--chamber music as it was truly meant to be heard. Each concert ends with a reception where the musicians and music lovers can meet.

I was 18 years old when I attended my first HBMF concert. 20 years later, it is still such a pleasure to attend these inspiring concerts. I now bring my wife and have begun to bring my oldest son. HBMF has turned a barn, originally used to feed and milk cows, into a concert hall with a 9 foot Chickering concert grand piano, a stage and fantastic acoustics. They recruit accomplished international artists both seasoned and those making debuts. The surrounding area has awe-inspiring gardens and grass paths that lead to a brook. You have not experienced a "concert" until you have attended an HBMF concert!

Honest Brook runs one of the most FANTASTIC programs I have ever seen. The talent is the tops and programs are highly creative! They rank among the best Festivals in the USA. I love the intimate performances and the beautiful setting as well as the wonderful Artistic Directors who are always so helpful and friendly to everyone.

As neighbors and friends of the founders, we have supported HBMF from the outset and have watched it grow and prosper, both in the quality of music that is performed and in its broad outreach to the people in the area. There is nothing else like it in Delaware County. It is a source of pride and great satisfaction for all of us.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

when my husband's opera was performed there. The festival showed great flexibility is adapting to a musical form not part of its general repertoire. The opera was vryr successful and fun to produce. The festival is innovative, always open to new ideas.

I feel, as did my late husband, we are privileged and so pleased to be able to attend the summer and winter superb performances and gatherings with interesting and friendly people presented by HBMF. They are inspiring. It's so good to once again have this type of involvement and experience in a rural area, as we had in the City. HBMF was a delightful discovery and for the last 18 years we/I have been enjoying the performances. The hosts could not be more friendly, accommodating, and inviting. They work so hard and give us so much.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

I'm sure the organizers would have plans or dreams they could realize...maybe they could get professional help if this available. The whole presentation involves much work and they present it as a smooth operation for all to enjoy.

We're darn lucky we have HBMF!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

It's probably a lot of work but I think the up;ifting type rewards are there.

Excellent programming, the best enviornment in a barn-converted-to-music-hall setting, the best staff and there can only be good things said about the entire running of the organizataion. Refreshments at intermission lend it a very quaint and friendly touch.

schedule more concerts, keep ticket prices affordable, and bring in artists which might presently be out of reach financially.

I have attended their recitals and concerts for over 20 years and have enjoyed them immensely. I particularly was impressed with the trios, quartets, and piano soloists that the festival attracts, such as the Kalichstein/Laredo/Robinson trio playing Beethoven.
