Hogar Infantil is a truly remarkable place for vulnerable children. When I visited as a volunteer, the children were engaged and obviously taken very good care of. Their clothes were clean, they were fed nutritious food, and they had a caring environment in which to spend critical years in their development. I would whole-heartedly recommend the organization to potential volunteers and donors.

I have been down to Hogar Infantil a few times now and I am impressed with it every time. The children there are always happy and having fun. Hogar is such a great place for them to be and the staff really cares about them. Hogar provides a safe environment for these children to learn and grow, and I am always happy to see that school work is emphasized and there are always oppotunities for learning there. At the same time, there are always special events going on that make the children feel special. Overall, Hogar is a wonderful place for these children to be!

Hogar Infantil is a wonderful casa hogar, or home, for children located in Tijuana, Mexico, that provides not just a place to sleep or eat but, rather, a safe and secure place for kids to grow and develop and reach their full potential at Hogar and even beyond. All of their needs are provided for: physical, emotional, and spiritual. They receive a great education and get to participate in after-school activities as well. Hogar Infantil is a family more than anything else and it's evident in the love you see between the children and staff everyday. The kids there are just like any other children and are incredibly happy, healthy, and energetic.

I first visited Hogar Infantil La Gloria four years ago when I went there with a group run by my church. I learned that the Mexican government places orphaned, neglected, and abused children in homes like La Gloria. It such an amazing place. They provide a loving home for children, many of whom have never had a loving home before. The children get the kind of upbringing any good parent would want for their children. They go to a good bilingual school in Tijuana. Teachers work with the kids on their homework every day. A nurse attends to their physical health. There's a baby room where babies and toddlers receive the one-on-one attention they need for proper development. There's lots of room for kids to play, including a playground and basketball courts. They've recently expanded to include housing for adolescents so they can have more privacy than the younger kids. This is one of the best run charities that I know of, and I would recommend donating your time with them if you're ever in the San Diego/Tijuana area.

I first encountered Hogar Infantil, 5 years ago when I was a full time volunteer in the San Diego/Tijuana Mexico area. Since that time, I have had the priviledge of visiting other orphanges in Central America and Asia and Hogar Infantil truly stands head and shoulders above the rest. Several things have impressed me about Hogar Infantil. First, the premises are clean, comfortable, and kid-friendly. I have visited other orphanges where children were dirty and the stench from facilities was unbearable. Second, the children are happy and healthy. Unlike other orphanges, the older kids are not responsible for caring for the younger children, meaning that a 12 or 13 year old still gets to be a kid. In fact, renovations over the last few years have given older children their own space away from some of the younger children. I believe that the children are happy at Hogar Infantil. Last year, children were asked to draw what they liked about their home as a school assignment, and many children drew pictures of games and activities that they enjoy playing together. While some children are there with siblings, they often refer to other children (who are not blood related) as brothers and sisters. The staff at Hogar Infantil is responsive to the children's needs and has created a loving environment for the children to grow up in.

Hogar Infantil is a charity in Tijuana, Mexico that cares for orphaned, abandoned, and abused children from the area. This charity is different from other organizations with similar goals because they don't just provide food, shelter, and an education for the children. They provide a real home and family where the children feel loved, supported, and cared for. The kids look to the program directors not as figureheads, but as parents who love and want the best for them. Further, the charity is probably the most fiscally responsible charity I have ever encountered. They take careful consideration of where to put every dollar, and nothing is spent frivolously. You can be confident that any donations are going directly to helping the kids and that it will be used well. Hogar Infantil truly is a wonderful organization and I strongly encourage people to donate and help their cause!
