Patricia has been fined $1,000 for not having the proper paperwork for her animals. Also, she was arrested for fraudulent accosting.

or other property.
Fraudulent accosting is a class A misdemeanor.
She is guilty of this and the animals in her care are always sick. Do not adopt from her. If you see her please contact Officer Venuto of the NYC police department. Do not give her donation money.
Hiss&Spit is a great organization. They helped me find a foster situation for my cats when I lost my apartment and had to bunk with friends. They are the only group that I approached with my situation who was able to help me, and other groups were unhelpful and disinterested. I found out by speaking with their reps that they have fostered through the police dept during local emergencies, and they also work with other groups and shelters as needed. I am grateful to Hiss&Spit for helping me during a bad time, and I will continue to donate to their programs, especially the food bank for pets in need.
I met two volunteers of Hiss&Spit when they helped my neighbor do TNR for a few cats that she had been feeding in her yard. The Trap neuter return system helps to keep the population from increasing, it's better for the health of the animals . They gave me information about where to get my cat spayed for low cost. I rescued her from the street
and I needed an affordable veterinary service. I recomended Hiss&Spit to another friend who is looking to adopt a cat for the first time, since they were very helpful and gave us a lot of good information.
I adopted 2 beautiful, healthy, Loveable cats from Hiss & Spit at a street adoption event. I was treated with respect and have all my paperwork from their veterinarian. I don't understand the many ugly comments by one or two people on this site. It seems to be a personal vendetta and not even a review. Hiss & Spit, thank you for the cats; the follow up visits and all the great information you gave me for caring for my babies.
I wanted to say that it has been easier for me to address the issue of TNR (Trap/neuter/Return) in my community because of this organization. My main concern is for the welfare of the feral and forgotten cats. This organization has enabled me to take some of these cats to their vet at no cost to me. One cat was so sick he looked as if he was 14 years old; after a Hiss & Spit intervention, this cat looks like a healthy 5 year old. Since there is always someone who is willing to help me -- I implore the organization to continue improving the quality of life for the cats that are in the alleyways and subway tunnels in my neighborhood. Hopefully, since it is cold, donations of clean blankets will be made to make sure they are warm. Hopefully, concerned people will donate water bowls and litter pans. I am Colony Queen, I am one person who spends a lot of time trapping, neutering/spaying, taking ferals to be vetted and maintaining a few colonies. I am busy rescuing those kittens that can be adopted out and helping people who need resource information, education and hands on help with their strays and ferals. Ms. Jolene/Unlikely (and God knows who else you impersonate) there are some people out there working hard thanks to the direction and assistance of Hiss & Spit. Hiss & Spit is not just one volunteer that you obviously despise and I hope you are eventually penalized for posting false charges. Your desire to be the top post is a clear indication that you have a personal and not an ethical issue. Caring for the aniimals would lead to a more productive way of addressing the issue or issues you claim should result in the shut down of a classy organization like Hiss & Spit. I think that is the best that I can ask and hope for at this point.
I had the fortune of talking with one of the volunteers on Broadway at the adoption site. She was not only very knowledgeable, but also very kind and generous with her resources which is rare and much appreciated in this day in age.
DO NOT BELIEVE THIS WOMAN SHE IS A FAKE,SHE TELLS YOU TO FILL OUT A ADOPTION FORM MAKES YOU THINK YOU ARE GETTING THE CAT BUT TELLS HE/SHE HAS BEEN ADOPTED OUT TO A FAMILY,THAT'S WHAT HAPPEN TO ME AND TO FIND OUT SHE STILL HAS THE CAT,SHE USES THESE POOR LITTLE ANGELS JUST TO MAKE MONEY,PLEASE DO NOT GIVE ANY MONEY TO THIS WOMAN,HER WEBSITE IS A FAKE THE ORGANIZATION IS A FAKE EVERYTHING ABOUT HER IS A FAKE,I JUST WISH SOMEONE COULD JUST SHUT HER DOWN AND PLACE THESE LITTLE GUYS TO SAVE HOME, PLEASE SOMEONE HELP TO STOP "HISS & SPIT"!!!!!!!!!!
I also wanted to adopt from Hiss & Spit, as they have a number of cute kittens. While I have yet to deal with anyone there, if anyone else is experiencing bad service, you can notify NYC Dept of Investigations at http://www.nyc.gov/html/doi/html/about/vendor_fraud.shtml.
I concur wholeheartedly with both reviews above. Hiss & Spit seems as though it is an awful scam and it should be shut down. For 5 weeks now, I've gone to Union Square to find out what the deal was with the application I submitted. Patricia, a lovely woman at FIRST meeting was super enthusiastic about me adopting a kitten, ensuring me that Hiss & Spit will call me within a week to interview me for adoption. Five weeks, three phone calls to Hiss & Spit, two emails, six applications and visits tri-weekly to Union Square later... still no phone call back. I would understand if perhaps, I appeared homeless and/or incapable of adopting a kitten, and had no response.... but frankly, have two healthy and happy kittens at home, and am extremely capable of supporting one more. It is absolutely DISGUSTING that this "organization" (kitten jail) leaves these kittens in the smoldering heat all day to just sit and rot in the sun with barely any food and no bathroom. They leave these overheated and abused kittens outside, SCREAMING "save a life! give these kittens a chance!" but then never get back to you. They should be shut down and Patricia should be imprisoned for animal abuse.
On Thursday 6/17/10 on the SW paved section of the park near the non operating fountain, I encountered two women with 6 or 8 cages of cats, mainly kittens. They were, purportedly, a shelter attempting to find homes for the the animals. The conditions of the pets were good - shaded from the sun, clean cages, food and water available, toys, watched carefully so visitors did not unduly disturb the animals. The woman in charge, Patricia (646-571-5721) interviewed me, had me fill out a form, accepted a donation check and told me she would deliver a female four month old kitten who had just been spayed to me last night. She said she would deliver the cat at 8p.m. I questioned her repeatedly about the time as I suspected vendors were out of the park well before that but she reaffirmed the timing. I called at 4:30 p.m. before I left my apt for an appointment. She reconfirmed. I called at 7:45 when I was leaving my event and received no answer. I arrived at the park shortly after 8p.m. Predictably, she was gone. I have tried calling twice since and received no answer.
