Even as a very small organization, High Road Artisans has helped over 150 artists in Northern New Mexico to create, adapt, display, and sell their arts and crafts. For over 12 years, the High Road Art Tour has brought customers directly to the doors of artists' studios. For over 9 years, the High Road MarketPlace has provided a year-round opportunity for artists to sell their work to tourists and local customers. I am grateful for the founders of the organization and all those who have come after to maintain and strengthen High Road Artisans.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

their trust in me to fill their needs for a tour director and grant writer/administrator, thereby allowing me a job and monthly stipend.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

reorganize the Board of Directors (which we are doing) and involve member artists more in the decisions and projects created just for them.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

meeting the variety of artists and learning from them about their passions.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

good, kind, helpful, and hard-working!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help its members to expand their creations, develop their small businesses, and provide them opportunities to experience art in the rest of the world.

Ways to make it better...

there had been more clarity around needs and duties.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

getting the member artists to take an interest, inspiring them to want to help each other and the organization, and to overcome differences of opinion so we can make progress toward our vision.

One thing I'd also say is that...

it's not easy to inspire over 150 artists to get involved, especially when most of them are already working hard at making a living and a life. Each year gives us another chance to encourage more artists to see the benefits they receive from their input.
