Programs: Overview: harlem academy prepares bright, motivated students from underserved communities for success at top secondary schools and universities. Students excelled academically:in 2014 standardized testing, first-year students averaged a 16-point gain. Almost half of our students scored above the 90th percentile nationwide in reading and more than one-third reached that benchmark in math. Graduates are thriving:100% of the students in our first three graduating classes have moved on to strong college-prep programs. These students have earned more than $890,000 in annual scholarships to top secondary schools including chapin, hotchkiss, peddie, and riverdale. Harlem academy provided over $2. 6 million in scholarships to low-income students: although every family makes a contribution toward tuition, the amount is set on a sliding scale based on income. Last year, the median scholarship was $23,000 92% of the $25,000 tuition. Providing full-need scholarships ensures that every student can afford to attend harlem academy, regardless of their familys financial circumstances. This vital support is essential to realizing our mission, opening the door for bright, motivated children from low-income families to earn their way to americas great educational opportunities. Charity navigator awarded harlem academy its highest rating of four stars: this recognition for fiscal responsibility, management efficiency, and transparency highlights our continued commitment to use gifts effectively toward advancing our mission.
