HAPPY ENDINGS ANIMAL RESCUE SANCTUARY

Rating: 5 stars   16 reviews

Issues: Animals

Location: P.O. Box 873 Santa Ynez CA 93460 USA

Mission: We are passionate about educating children and adults on the care and respect for all animals. To provide refuge to animals that would otherwise be euthanized and to remove those who are in neglectful or abusive situations. Here they will be provided with the best nutrition, housing and love. Having room to roam and play, interact and socialize with other animals, the sanctuary gives a second chance to animals that would have no hope of a decent life, instilling trust in their hearts, so they may feel safe and loved.
Results: We have changed the lives of at risk youth and given them the foundation for being productive members of society, and our rescued horses, who have had the same life experiences, have given them unconditional love, trust and friendship School children have returned to their homes and educated their parents on the proper care and respect for all animals. Fewer animals are being abandoned because of information provided to them that help keep animals in the home and not in the shelters.
Target demographics: educate the public about the homeless, abused and neglected horses in our community
Geographic areas served: Santa Barbara County
Programs: Education, Rehabilitation, Adoption and Sanctuary

After an extremely stressful divorce I found myself unable to care for my ponies who were full brother & sister. Happy Endings Animal Rescue Sanctuary came to my rescue. My ponies were loved by me, however, had been abused in my previous situation and CC came to our rescue and offered a safe and loving home for them. I don't know what I would have done without this wonderful program coming to our aide.
Thank you to CC and all the volunteers at Happy Endings Animal Rescue Sanctuary.

Happy Endings Animal Rescue Sanctuary has been a Blessing to me and my ponies. They were taken in and loved when I could no longer provide for them. I have helped whenever I can with fund raising for Happy Endings and I pray that they will be able to provide a loving home to all the rescued animals and find loving homes for them to live out their lives. Thank you C.C.

I would like to personally thank C.C. Wellman and H.E.A.R.S. for their wonderful work, support and loving care. After a long, continuing, emotionally and financially draining divorce, I found myself unable to care for my two ponies. What a blessing C.C. was (and still is) to come to our rescue and take them into her program. These two ponies were born one year apart and have never been separated. I had them since they were one and two years old. When I acquired the ponies, neither had ever been handled. When they were first brought home, we had to put their halters on with lead ropes before they even got out of the trailer. With patience I was able to earn their trust and they became the most loving and trusting creatures you would ever hope to meet. Eventually, I was even able to break Sundance to drive a pony cart. Miss Classy, the mare, became very ill about a year ago and almost did not make it if not for the loving care and attention of C.C. and the Alamo Pintado Equine Clinic. While Classy was there at the clinic her brother, Sundance, was right by her side at all times. Recently, after a long night with Classy becoming ill again, C.C. decided it would be best to have her put to sleep. Not being sure how Sundance would handle things with his sister and best friend gone, C.C., with her expert knowledge, allowed Sundance to say goodbye to his sister and then took him away so that he could not see Classy’s lifeless body being removed. The gentleman that he is, Sundance is doing very well. I honestly could not say that Classy would have been so brave if it were Sundance who was gone. Thank you so very much C.C. and the Alamo Pintado Equine Clinic for all that you do. Juli Welby Moss, Los Alamos

This is the kind of place I dream of helping at! To be any part of this wonderful group would be fulfilling part of my dreams! I dream of a world where all animals have a safe & loving place to be. In a perfect world, this would all be true! I have a friend who has volunteered here several times & loves it! She has seen all the things I want to do, more than anything I can think of! Thank You for being there for these sweet, defenseless & voiceless beings!

This organization is filled with love and compassion. I have been a volunteer for three years and have witnessed miracles. Animals who have been abandoned and neglected learn to trust humans and find their forever home. CC Wellman the founder gives the most loving care I have ever seen. She always helps when any animal is in need.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I wish that there were more volunteers and funds to help more animals.

If you have ever had a pet you then know what good things that Happy Endings does. Taking in the pets that people can no longer care for and finding them new homes takes a lot of time and energy. C.C. is wonderful in both areas. Not only does the animal have a great home to come to while waiting for an adoption but C.C. and all the workers make sure the animal is loved and cared for and goes to a good home. This is a great organization that is kept going with lots of love and good old fashioned hard work. Lots of love is the key to keeping the animals happy. This is one place where working with the animals makes the people as happy as the animals.

I work off and on as a volunteer at Happy Endings. Their dedication, love and passion for these animals is a moving experience for me. The animals are treated like family members and are always put first in every situation. Renovations to the sanctuary are being made regularly to help keep the safety and comfort of the animals at its best. The animals are friendly and well cared for and I couldn't think of anywhere I would rather volunteer.
