As a Broward County GAL, HANDY has assisted in providing services for the children I represent and for this I am most grateful. HANDY has proven themselves over and over, year after year from Christmas gifts to school supplies. Thank you HANDY.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Christmas gifts for the children in foster care. School supplies for the children that have nothing to start at the beginning of the year. Gift cards for Birthdays or programs for children who are in real need of life skills and general care.

I am a Guardian Ad Litem and HANDY has helped to make my kids days on many occasions. In the past the Spring Baskets were amazing - I couldn't wait to deliver them and see the children's faces. They provided Christmas gifts every year and gift cards. They have also helped in emergency cases and more. Thanks HANDY for always being there for the children and their families!

THIS WONDERFUL ORGANIZATION PROVIDES SCHOOL SUPPLIES PLUS A GIFT CERTIFICATE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, SO THAT CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE, CAN FEEL EQUAL TO THEIR MORE FORTUNATE PEERS.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

MAKING THE LESS FORTUNATE CHILDREN FEEL EQUAL TO OTHERS WITHOUT BEING ASHAMED OF BEING IN FOSTER CARE

I am a volunteer for the Guardian Ad Litem and every year Handy is there for the children giving not only their time but also their compassion and care to all the children at the beginning of the school year with school supplies and clothing but also at the Holiday time with a gift. I have seen the happiness it brings to their little faces and it makes it worthwhile and I am happy and grateful that I have the time to give to them as well. It is very rewarding and to Handy if you don'd hear it enough..... THANK YOU !!!

I have been a Guardian ad Litem for almost 25 years, and, as long as HANDY has been in existence (and, yes, I was there at the very beginning), many of the children I serve have benefitted by being able to get clothing, shoes, jackets, underwear, toys, books and many other items on hand at the time. For a child who has been moved without notice, often leaving everything behind; it is wonderful to be able to create an instant wardrobe to get you through the week. I am grateful to HANDY, for fulfilling the needs of the children I serve. HANDY also provides holiday gifts, so that no child is left out.

I have been a Guardian ad Litem for several y ears now and I can't tell you how much HANDY has helped me help my children. They afford me the opportunity to give my kids really great gifts at Xmas and Easter. My favorite experience to share with my kids is the very generous Back-to-School shopping gift certificate which lets them buy brand new clothes and shoes for school. Thanks HANDY for being there!!

I have been involved with HANDY in assiting to manage their annual golf event. I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am with their staff and dedication. Helping our struggling youth find their way through life is fundamental to a brighter future for them. HANDY helps youth in so many different ways. Some of kids they have touched have gone from the streets to gradutating high school and college. Amazing people!

Our organization works with adjudicated youth in the dependency system who have been abused , neglected, abandoned, and are disadvantaged. We provide life skills, help with emergency needs (food, shelter, bills, clothing, and provide mentoring and tutoring services for the students. In addition, we are assisting them with their GED'. Our goal is to enable them to receive their high school education and then help them transition on to college or vocational technical school. We collaborate with the local college and university to assist us in providing tuition for these students. Presently, we are supporting over 80 students with books and supplies each semester ($1500 per year). Our students are completing their education and can obtain excellent jobs upon completion. By building upon their educational foundation, we are helping to stop the revolving cycle of abuse, neglect and abandonment. I am very proud to be the Chair of the HANDY Scholarship and Education system and proud to be making a difference in changing the lives of these dependent youth.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I experience the progress of the students on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis. There is nothing more gratifying than to share in the graduation of a student who had been homeless, neglected, and abused. Now they can accomplish their dreams.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Dependent youth are from foster care and from protective supervision. Their lives lack stability and reinforcement, and I am proud to be part of a group that provides love, security , guidance, and hope for the future through education.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Outstanding and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of these neglected youth. They are family to the youth as well as outstanding role models for them to emulate.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

We have over 3000 adjudicated youth in the dependency system in Broward County, and the additional dollars would be far reaching. They would provide additional services for emergency needs, housing, food, clothing and provide for their education.
