Adopted 2 dogs from HALO. The volunteers are honest & work hard to place the right pet with an appropriate owner, based on personality, training, etc. I give them generous donations each year b/c they really know how to stretch a dollar. I have received several personally signed thank yous from Heather Allen. If you are short on cash, consider donating to or shopping at their thrift store, sketchy neighborhood, but really nice merch. I use Goodsearch.com as my web browser to give then 1 cent for each search, really adds up! In short, HALO is my favorite charity ever!

HALO gives animals another chance at life. They do their good work by going into the county facilities and rescuing as many animals as they can. We love HALO. We have gotten two wonderful little dogs through their rescue efforts, so far. They are helping with the animal over-population problem, and making a difference in our community.

HALO is a wonderful organization that rescues pets that are on the euthanasia list, provides care services, and places them in forever homes with loving owners. We have been fortunate enough to spend two weekends a month volunteering at their facility on 35th Ave in Phoenix.

During our
time there, we have felt the love of the animals. It is very easy to become addicted to going because you know that you are giving back in such a positive way by enriching the lives of the animals.

The staff at the facility are always upbeat, helpful, and friendly. They make you feel like part of the team and that you are truly making a difference with your efforts, no matter how big or small. They are extremely flexible and allow volunteers to participate on the level that they feel most comfortable.

We would highly recommend HALO to anyone looking to give back or to find a deserving pet to add to the family.

Halo Animal Rescue is a wonderful organization that is really dedicated to saving the lives of precious animals! We adopted a beautiful black cat from Halo that was given a second chance and has since become a member of our family. She has so much love, gives lots of kisses, loves to be right by our side and part of everything that we are doing around the house. She waits at the doorstep for us to come home everyday and we love her very much! We appreciate HALO for seeing the good in her and giving her a second chance--we are so happy to have her in our lives!

My daughter died two and a half years ago. I have been looking for an organization to which to donate money in her name. My daughter loved animals. I contacted HALO and met with Shelly on my daughter's birthday. Shelly answered all my questions. Shegave my husband and me a great tour while explaining the mission of HALO. The animals are clearly loved and comforted at HALO while they regain their health. HALO's 2010 record of placing almost 2700 animals impressed me. This is the real deal!

I donate to several animal rescue shelters. When I had a question about a stray cat that i am trying to rescue, Heather at HALO gave me so much good support and information. I fully commend these wonderful volunteers for their tireless, selfless, diligent work in trying to find good, loving homes for every type of animal in need. Sincerely, Jeff H. Phoenix, AZ.

I never used to like cats. I don't know why, they just never appealed to me as much as dogs did. One day the guy I was dating adpoted an older cat from Petsmart's Halo adoption. I was terribly allergic to her, but she was so sweet and would always curl in my lap. Her tounge always hung out (because she was abused before Halo saved her and lost her front teeth in the abuse). I think she knew we were going to be her forever parents. My allergies went away after about a month, and she was such a great cat. We adopted 3 more over the next 5 years from Halo. Each one with their own personalities. They are all special and great cats. Halo does such a wonderful job saving these animals and finding them homes. And their adoption fees are resonable and much deserved since the money goes back to saving more animals. I reccomend you adopt your next pet from Halo, there are so many pets to choose from and they are all so wonderful!

After the heartbreak of having my 13+ year old Lab, PTS I wanted to wait a while before considering another dog. I knew, that when the time came, I would adopt from a shelter.
Stopping by HALO, when I thought it just might be time to start looking...
I was looking for a dog, not quite as
big as a Lab, but almost. And I didn't want a youngster (I am in my early 60's & didn't want a pup who would out live me)
I noticed and smiled at an older chihuahua mix, who reminded me of a dog that I had many years ago. However, not really finding a dog that "called out" to me, I went home.
But I thought about that little old Chihuahua mix.... She was 12 years old, and she had looked so sad and uncertain.... and I re-capped the memories of the other little white Chi that I had so many years ago.
The next day, I returned to HALO. We took "Lexi" out to the yard. She
really didn't do much, didn't show much interest in me. Again, I went home. But I kept thinking about her. How confused she must be, to be given up after 12 years with one owner. I decided I would give her a try.
I'm not sorry! She absolutely adores "me!" and will do anything to please me! Her second favorite person is my granddaughter.
She has learned to accept the foster cats that I care for. And she is
one active little "senior" dog!

I volunteer at MCAC&C west and come in contact with your staff frequently. It is easy to see how much they care about the animals esp when they are picking out dogs to take to their shelter (building I). Not all their choices have blond hair and blue eyes, some are old, some are sick, some have behavior problems because they have been at county for too long. And sometimes there is a dog who has been e-listed and i love that dog, but have run out of room to take home aother foster, and I run to one of your staff and beg them to take the dog--and frequently they do save that dog's life! Thank you, cathy

I volunteered for HALO for a couple years while I was attending law school, and loved it. I'd still be going there if I had the time! The staff at HALO is wonderful, and it's clear in everyone that they care deeply for the animals in their care... and all animals! The facility is clean and well cared for, and the safety, health and happiness of the animals is clearly the top priority for everyone involved!
