Reviews for Habitot Children's Museum

Rating: 5 stars

As a volunteer with the American Red Cross I had pleasure of hosting a table about Emergency Preparedness for five years in a row. For the last few, there were a total of six organizations. All representing an aspect of safety.

The staff were telling the parents about the information. The enthusiasm of the parents and the kids was very exciting.

Arranging for this event every year far exceeds expectations in my view.

Habitot Children's Museum is a wonderful place for young children and their parents and other care givers to learn, explore, and be creative together. Some of my favorite visuals of my children when they were younger are pictures of their times at Habitot dressed as astronauts, firefighter or chefs, or painting on wall boards or washing cars in a town of their own size. It is a fabulous nonprofit that serves an important place in our community of families in the Greater Bay Area and beyond.

Habitot is a wonderful resource for new parents. They provide hands on learning, imaginative play and arts and crafts for children ages 1-5. The many cultural and educational events make Habitit a real jewel for the whole community.

Whenever we get anywhere near downtown Berkeley, my two-year-old asks if we are going to Habitot. I love taking her there because the content is educationally enriching, the space is clean, the staff are engaging and kind, and there is quiet for me to feed my baby too. Everyone is happy when we visit Habitot!

Habitot is a wonderful institution for 0-5 year old children and their families. The types of educational opportunities that they provide to this group are wonderful. They also provide a lot of programs for undeserved and at-risk communities who may not be able to afford museums. The impact they are creating in the East Bay community is very admirable and inspiring

As a volunteer at Habitot's Family Resource Center, I maintain the museum's collection of books for parents and caregivers. Currently I'm working on developing the collection to include titles of interest to families with young children: sleep, discipline, education, siblings, recreation, single parenting, etc. I'm a recent graduate from San Jose's MLIS program and volunteering at Habitot has given me real-life experience in cataloging and collection development, as well as insight into how an organization on a tight budget operates.
