Mission:

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles builds and renovates homes in partnership with God and people everywhere with a goal of eliminating substandard housing by making decent, affordable housing a matter of conscience and action in our communities.

Results: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles has built nearly 700 homes to date in Greater Los Angeles and around the world. We operate two succesful retail stores in Gardena and Norwalk which sell home improvement materials to the public. Proceeds from the store support our work. We are currently building in multiple cities and engage over 10,000 volunteers each year.

Target demographics: Habitat for Humanity seeks to partner with hard working individuals and families who demonstrate the need for better shelter.

Direct beneficiaries per year: up to 75 homeowners

Programs: HFH GLA's A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) program provides exterior home repairs free of charge to qualifying low-income homeowners.  Repairs can include painting, landscaping and other minor repairs.  Interested homeowners must demonstrate proof of ownership, residency in the Greater LA region and financial need.  This program is targeted towards low-income households earning less than 80% of area median income.

Our company has volunteered with Greater Los Angeles Habitat for Humanity for the past decade. We have always had an amazing experience both as a team building activity and an opportunity to give back to the community. The staff at Habitat is very responsive to our needs and is always available to answer any questions. This is the reason we keep coming back to help build houses! I highly recommend Greater Los Angeles Habitat for Humanity to companies in the LA County who are looking for a rewarding hands on experience.

Habitat for Humanity is one of the best nonprofits out there. I support their work because it is not a give-away program. Families have to contribute hours in the construction of their homes. Then they repay a loan to Habitat which is used to build more homes. Talk about stretching your dollars for lasting impact! I encourage others to join in support of the cause.

I have volunteered and donated to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles since 1998. This is one of the few organizations where you can see your donation in action. Funds help buy building materials and volunteers work alongside the future homeowners to build the homes. I also like that this is not a give-away program...the families pay back a mortgage to Habitat after moving in and those funds help build more homes. Your dollar goes a long way with them!
