Grist does an amazing job bringing the vast topics that environmentalism covers, pulling apart the layers and letting us look inside. It brings humor and wit to subjects that can be depressing and frustrating and calls out those in power that refuse to make the environment, the world that we live in, a priority.

One example is their continuing support of growing a healthy food system and exposing the flaws in the industrial food system we currently have. When the tainted egg incident happened, Grist was right there with the details of how the particular farmer that owned the mega-egg production farms had receive many saftey violations over the years, but didn't change his practices.

I really don't have any negative feedback for Grist. This is one newsletter I look forward to getting everyday!

GO GRIST!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I've seen how their articles get talked about away from the office, how they help get the word out on many topics.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Not change anything!

This is my "go to" website for all things environmental. The writing is so well-informed and presented in such an accessible style that I always come away knowing that I learned more than I needed to, but I am glad for it! I cannot tell you how many times a day I start a sentence by saying "I was reading on grist that ..." If I were half as good a writer as they are, you'd have a better idea of how great grist.org really is.

Instead I think you should check it out yourself, right away!

being a well-informed person. I try my best to live a lifestyle where I have little negative impact on the planet. I get sound information from Grist to further this goal.

Bring it more into the mainstream! If the average American was reading this online magazine on a regular basis, we might start to slow the impact of global warming without having to resort to relying on government regulation - which is coming at an embarrassingly slow pace. CNN or somebody should be linking to their information regularly!

Grist puts out a fabulous array of "tongue in cheek" but clearly factual and well researched information on the widest variety possible of environmental issues--from Global warming stories and info to environmentally friendly sex toys and how to make toxic free shampoo!

I read it for the
information. I read it for the laughs. I read it.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

By checking out some of their recipes.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Receive the e-mails less frequently, say, perhaps weekly rather than daily. Often information overkill.

I get Grist's daily e-mail every day. It is my source I turn to for environmental news and for questions on how to be more eco-conscious. My favorite column is Ask Umbra.

I wish that they had news sections that featured news in different areas because as I am living in New York City, there are always environmental events going on that I always hear about after they happen.

Grist provides current event analysis on issues about which I care deeply. They also provide a forum for members to discuss the news (and the opinions of others who post.) Based on this back and forth, I have formulated policies and practices here at work and in my personal life to live lighter on this planet, make smarter food and energy choices, and goad my cohorts into making informed choices as well.

I would figure out how to create sustainable funding for this organization by taking polluter fees and via a supplemental environmental agreement, funnel that money to good solid environmental reporting.
