I have the great honor and pleasure to work with this group and they are top notch! Everything they do is in the best interest of the greyhounds and NO GREYHOUND IS LEFT BEHIND, whether it's shows up in a shelter, stray, an abusive situation or just retiring from their racing career. This group is all about the GREYHOUNDS!!!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I wouldn't change anything about this group. They are awesome to work with and love the greyhounds.

My husband is a veterinarian and he has done some of the vet work for GALT since they started in 2001. We have both worked with many animal rescue organizations but Greyhound Adoption League of Texas is by far the best. They should write a book on how to run a rescue organization. To date they have found forever homes for over 2100 greyhounds. They work strictly on donations with an operating budget of over $250,000 per year. Their fundraising abilities are just phenomenal and this group works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate and adopt greyhounds, all the while, educating the general public about the joys of owning a greyhound. We have never worked with a better group of volunteers and what they do for greyhounds should not go unnoticed.

I am a foster for GALT and help by donating items for benefit auctions. This organization is so wonderful in saving and re homing all greyhounds, off the track and abandoned. Their matto no grey turned away is so true.
I love fostering these wonderful dogs and think this is one of the BEST

I foster for GALT and this is a wonderful, caring organization that truly cares for all greyhounds. They rescue greyhounds from the tracks or animal shelters and care for them until they find their "forever home". I have never worked with a more caring, professional group of dedicated people. I am very proud to be part of this organization!

I am a foster volunteer and have been doing it for about a year now. It is the most rewarding thing and I love each and every foster. GALT (Greyhound Adoption League of Texas) has done such a wonderful job of rescuing Greyhounds, caring for them, placing them in Foster homes until adopted into their forever home. My experience with the owners and other Foster members of GALT has been such a positive and rewarding experience. By providing a loving, kind foster home for the hounds, we can prepare them for their forever home that will be a success. We have a "Foster Frenzy" site where we can post things / share things about our fosters / and get help with questions about fostering or a specific question about a dogs health / habits. Great support group! So glad to be a part of it all.

I initially adopted from GALT. It was the spirit and the professionalism of the volunteers that inspired me to be a part of this organization. I have now been a volunteer for about 2 years. This organization and it's all volunteer 'staff' are superior to any other organization that I have been involved in. The work that is done by this team to support the cause, 'NO GREY TURNED AWAY', is amazing. The dogs benefit, the adopters are supported even AFTER they adopt, there is a sense of community within the organization and the overall goal, to provide outstanding care to sight hounds is accomplished through the tireless efforts of the volunteers.

I have been a GALT volunteer for almost 8 years. I know for a fact that their motto of "NO GREY TURNED AWAY" is 110% true! They go above and beyond any organization that I know of to help the hounds in need. I have devoted countless hours volunteering, working events, fostering, transporting the Grey babies to and fro and anything else that was asked of me. From the board members to the countless volunteers, I can truly say that they are an amazing group to work with and I am so very fortunate to be able to say that they are also my friends! I no longer live in the Dallas area but still like to help out when I can. I want to wish GALT a Happy 12th Birthday and many many more successful years to come!

I have been with GALT for 5 years! I have adopted 3 Greys, volunteered thousands of hours, been a foster mom, and loved every single minute of it! I have moved, but when I get a chance to go back to Dallas to see my GALT family and friends you can be sure that I'll find some way to spend some time with the doggers!! I miss all the fun events, going to meet/greets, and spending time with everyone. I love the fact that NO dog is every turned away! There have been some that you didn't even think were going to make it and with a lot of love and care these dogs turn out to be happy and healthy and move on to their "Forever Homes'. John and Susie are amazing! Congrats on your 10th Anniversary!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Watching the countless hours that are spent with the dogs, and the love and respect that they have for everyone involved.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

No changes are needed, just volunteers who are willing to donate their time and foster homes so that all dogs will know what it's like to have a warm place to sleep and never ending love.

I became involved with the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas in 2005. This dedicated group of volunteers work together for the good of the greyhounds that come into their program. The extensive work they do on the incoming greyhounds to get them ready for a home, the adoption process that does the best possible job matching the right family to the right greyhound and the continuing support given to the adopters and their hound is truly outstanding. GALT gives their all every time, every greyhound.

The Greyhound Adoption League of Texas is a family of dedicated volunteers working together to find loving homes for greyhounds...all greyhounds. To provide the quality care that each greyhound that passes thru their loving hands receives is a huge financial committent that is funded only thru their tireless fundraising efforts and donations. GALT accepts the healthy, the sick, the broken legs, the old, and young greyhound. GALT volunteers have hearts as big as Texas. Love these people. Suppport GALT!!! Thank roooo!!!

In 2005 our son rescued a greyhound from a local kill shelter and we fell in love with the breed. Soon after we adopted our first greyhound from the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas. We discovered that in our area there are many greyhounds that end up in the local shelter found as strays, injured or sick. GALT has always, without fail, taken in any greyhound we have found, in any condition and given that greyhound the medical attention it needed, no matter what the cost. Then worked tirelessly to find the perfect home for that greyhound. The entire group of Greyhound Adoption League of Texas volunteers is to me like a family united in the cause of helping all greyhounds all the time. We are proud to be a part of GALT.

As a GALT volunteer and donor, I can definitely attest to this important organization. My greyhound broke his leg during his last race back in 2010. GALT is the only greyhound adoption group in Texas that will accept greyhounds with broken leg injuries from the racetrack. Without GALT, I shudder to think of what would have happened to him. GALT paid for his broken leg surgery and his loving foster mom opened up her home to him during his recuperation. With GALT, you can rest assured your donation will go towards helping the greyhounds.

GALT is a remarkable greyhound rescue organization run 100% by volunteers and funded 100% by donations and fundraisers. My involvement with GALT started when my husband and I began our search for a new family member. During our adoption process we discovered GALT to be extremely organized, efficient, and dedicated. Due to the the generous donations and hard work of GALT's volunteers, thousands of greyhounds have been placed into forever homes.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my adoption of Dolce. Dolce was taken in by GALT after his racing injury. GALT paid for his surgery and rehabilitation. His loving and generous foster family introduced him to home life, which made his transition into our house seamless. Dolce joined our family happy, healthy and well-adjusted. This is a testament to GALT's successful work with rescuing and rehabilitating greyhounds and placing them into forever homes.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

My only wish is that more people will dedicate themselves to this amazing organization.

I've been a volunteer with the Greyhound Adoption League of TX for 3 years. Since joining this wonderful organization, I've looked forward to the day when I was able to foster or adopt my own grey. At the end of 2012, I took in a dog as a foster to see if adoption was for me, and was very satisfied with how much support I received from GALT coordinators. They were always happy to answer questions as this was the first dog I'd ever been responsible for. I quickly realized that my life wouldn't be the same without my special foster, and decided that I had to make it official. I adopted him about 3 weeks after picking him up from the kennel, and I can't imagine life without my boy. GALT is such a great group of people, and they care so much for each grey that comes into their care. The kennel volunteers that cared for my dog prior have all checked in and asked how he's doing. This organization doesn't forget about dogs after they've been placed in homes, and I think that quality makes GALT truly special.
