Results: We have won 20 different awards for our icons, mapping tools and program. Hundreds of Green Maps are now available to the public. Our tool center includes both locally-made tools shared by Green Mapmakers and many that we have created for them. Our network's vitality and outcomes can be explored in the book (free download) at GreenMap.org/impacts

Programs:

Green Mapmakers include students, grassroots groups, NGOs, universities, governmental agencies and others. As they chart the way towards a healthier, more resilient and sustainable future, the resulting Green Maps benefit residents, tourists and decision-makers.

Over 500 locally designed, printed Green Maps are in use. 350 interactive maps, created on our Open Green Map platform, can be enhanced with public comments and images, explored on mobile phones and embedded in websites.

Our tools build capacity, knowledge and networks. In 2013 - 2014, with your support, we are developing a ‘data bridge’ to support collaboration and new partnerships to accelerate progress and taking part in beyond-the map initiatives that impact people of all backgrounds.

I wasn't sure what to expect when my hometown, Montclair, NJ, was selected to become a recipient of a Sustainable Jersey grant enabling us to acquire an Open Green Map. Thanks to our volunteers, and Wendy Brawer's guidance and technical assistance, our results are much greater than I could have even hoped. We have identified over 100 sustainability assets and attributes in our community - from electric charging stations to our Farmers' Market, and from historical places and our Recycling Zones to the Montclair Art Museum - and the OGM is now available to all residents and will soon also be available on our Township Website. We've had input from people I wouldn't have thought even cared, and we are excited about opportunities to be able to work with school kids as well. Wendy even came to our town for a day-long presentation and Map demonstration! The Green Map organization is a well-organized, successful, and generous group and we are proud to be a part of the international Green Map movement.

GreenMap has made making community maps in British Columbia a joy rather than a chore. Our community partners love the icons and the icons draw out their stories: superb seeding!

The Green Map System is an unusually strong nonprofit in a crowded field. Wendy Brawer and Carlos Martinez made multiple site visits and gave presentations to help us launch our effort, pro bono! Wendy personifies open-source, informed and engaged leadership with her gentle demeanor and dogged commitment. The brand and vision are utterly consistent, and the quality of empowerment that Green Mapping brings to communities is high. We have been able to engage a regional leadership fellows program in completing our Green Map thanks to the care and quality of the platform created by Green Map Central.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

using our Green Map draft as a calling card to get people involved in our organization.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

struggle to think of anything major!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

their can-do stance and their easygoing style

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

motivated and motivating

Ways to make it better...

some of the icon definitions had been more detailed and appropriate to our context, but many are fine and the Green Map folks encourage adaptive use.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

One thing I'd also say is that...
