Green Map System
Green Map is a fantastic, dynamic organization. They have developed a methodology used by local communities to map their own green resources, using a shared set of universal icons. Their web-based Open Green Map should be THE platform for sharing information with each other about sites that promote sustainable living.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
using the NYC maps to discover things in my community, from a nearby site that accepts composting to a thermal energy site that I was able to line up a visit to when my company considered this technology for a new building.
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
from the founder to mapmakers from various parts of the world, everyone I've met who is involved in some way have been wonderful, dedicated people.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
extremely hardworking and talented.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Provide support to many more communities to map their green resources, help bring their mapping methodology and curricula to cschools and universities, and even to many corporations interested in social responsibility through mapping their own operations.
