I have been a member of the Arts Council for more than 15 years. It was one of the first organizations I joined when we moved here. As an artist it has been one of the best investment for my career. The organization works hard for all arts in the community. They are aware of the need for visibility in the government. They maintain great contact locally and regionally and personally. If you are an artist - this organization is a must for good networking!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

as a participant in the Arts in the Hearts as an artist . I have served as an artist in many of their panel discussions

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

make a bigger effort at educating the non-artist community as to the need for arts in the community.

I have worked with Greater Augusta Arts as a member of a non profit applying for grants funding, as a part of an arts group participating in Arts in the Heart of Augusta, and as an individual artist participating in the Wet Paint Party. Everything they do is done with excellence. They are a huge asset to our community as a whole, and especailly the arts community in the CSRA.

I have experienced the results of this group as an individual artist, and as the president of an arts group that they serve and I am very impressed with their atention to the needs of the artists in the arts community and their commitment to provide a quality product in all they do.

I wouldn't change anyting - they listen to the needs of the community, the artists, and the organizations that they serve and work hard to meet these needs. Keep up the good work!

This organization has given us guidance as we became an official non-profit. The GAAC has promoted us. And when we achieved 501c3 status, we were awarded operating support from the GAAC that has allowed us not only to maintain in this economy, but to expand our programming which has met with much success. Members of their staff are extremely in touch with the local art scene, they are regular members of our audience. This group recognizes and fosters legitimate and worthwhile artistic endeavors. Without the GAAC, the art scene in this town would dry up and blow away.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

always received valid and useful information in a timely fashion; awarded granting in a time when it was necessary for survival.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Increase their funding for events that they host that have become the cornerstones of surrounding art commerce i.e. Arts in the Heart, First Friday, etc. Also, increase the amount of money they can regrant, so deserving artists can continue to work.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

their staff is present and know first hand what is going on in the community. They attend events and are honest about their reviews.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

professional and friendly, sincere and honest.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

create and sustain a theatre district and gallery row that could be the focus of regional and national tourism.

Ways to make it better...

The cap for maximum funding wasn't cut to almost half of what it was the previous year.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Budget cuts.

One thing I'd also say is that...

We, LeChatNoir, bring considerable commerce to this city as commercial property owners and as a theatre company. The GAAC helps groups like us to maintain and grow through the events they produce and the money they regrant. The GAAC needs its budget back.

I work for a non-profit, youth agency and I have seen first-hand what Greater Augusta Arts Council, Inc. can do. Out members learn so much. develop usable skills, and make an abundance of remarkable memories. I am amazed at how much the Arts Council can do in such a short span of time. Watching my members perform under the direction of the council brings tears to my eyes and gives me chill bumps all over!!!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my agency during the summer months when the council takes several hundred children from 4 clubs to put on the most spectacular performance ever.

My organization has participated in its First Friday event. I've found that staff have gone out of their way to facilitate our organization's participation and that the management of the First Friday event is successful.

I am the director of a non-profit. The Greater Augusta Arts Council provides us opps to perform and helps us to know about community arts events and potential ways for us to make money for our work through arts foundations and grant. The staff at the Greater Augusta Arts Council has been not only professional, but very helpful in the work that they do to serve the public and the overall arts community.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Brenda Durant's wonderful help

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Brenda is the main person that we have dealt with and she has always been great.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Do so much more to help the arts community and enhance the quality of life in our area for the general public. Perhaps money for a new performing arts center would be one of those things funded. Columbia County has no sizable arts facility.

The Greater Augusta Arts Council has helped our rural county for the past two years through grants we obtained from GAP and GAAC. We have been able to expand our cultural events, including an annual art show and seasonal concerts. GAAC has helped to expose art and culture to our community.

The Greater Augusta Arts Council has helped us reach out to the rural GA community for the past two years. Through grants we obtained from GAP and GAAC, we have been able to reach out to a broader population in rural GA, including the underprivileged in our area, with artist talks and painting workshops that many would not be able to experience otherwise. We are thankful GAAC has given us several opportunities to share with our community.

Everyone, especially Grace Bowles and Melissa Sherwood, were friendly, helpful and patient, taking time and care to make sure that we had everything we needed and were informed of everything going on in a timely fashion.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

receiving a GAP grant through their efforts. They were very helpful, friendly and patient.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

promote its achievements more so that everyone would know how wonderful an organization it is.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

that each member with which I had the privilege of working was very professional and courteous.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

the best! They made sure that we had all the information we needed, completed all of the forms as needed and understood the entire process of applying for the GAP grant.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help Georgia's economy through the arts. It would reach more communities with the message of having arts help build communities.

Ways to make it better...

I cannot think of anything that needs to be improved.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the financial restrictions which they face due to a poor economy.

One thing I'd also say is that...

With the improvement in the economy, especially in Georgia, the CSRA will benefit from making sure that GAAC has money with which to work.
