The Gow School: Proud of a long career in education in many schools, I take enormous pride in being a Board member of the Gow School. Through its specialization in all facets of dyslexia, The Gow School leads in educating their young men to master the language, learning and life skills necessary for success in school, college - and beyond. Clearly, the school's mission, faculty and program position Gow in first place for differentiated learnning. Sandra P. Gilmor Board Member and Educator

I attended Gow for three years from 1977-80 and it changed my life for the better. I struggled with school prior to attending Gow and Gow gave me the founadtion for success in high school, college, MBA school and business. I cannot thank Gow enough for all that they do to help young men find their potential in life.

I love the Gow School. I went to Gow for five years, came back and taught after college and have for the most part remained involved one way or another up to this date. Gow offered me an open door that previously was closed to me. That door remains open today as I venture into new things all the time. I owe a lot of my success to The Gow School.

As an ex-trustee as well as student at this school for four years in the forties and early fifties I feel it really helped me with my self-confidence as I had failed the eighth grade the previous year at a fancy boarding school with no clue about my problem; this institution did the easy thing and just dumped me as a hopeless case. At Gow I found caring and sympathetic teachers who enabled me and my classmates to go on to college and life with my head held high.

I attended Gow in the 1950's graduating in 1959. In those days there was no term for dyslexia; it was just known as an obscure reading comprehension problem. Yet with the studies of Reconstructive Language and the strict discipline applied by the school most of us were able to lead productive, normal lives. Over the years those of us from that era have become regarded as pioneers. And Gow has kept up with state-of-the-art knowledge of teaching students with this phenomenon by developing a very precise curriculum with individual attention that ultimately removes the stigma of dyslexia as a handicap. It has become a gift. I remain very enthusiastic about what this school is doing and commit time and funds to its cause.
