Gow School

My son has gone to Gow's summer camp 3 years in a row. He has benefited tremendously from the outstanding academic side of the camp but also from the team- and leadership-building involved in all the camp activities. Gow has managed to find the perfect balance in marrying academic progress with serious fun.

I searched for a school for my severely dyslexic son. Gow was last on our list to see. Thomas came away from that visitation day with one comment," Mom I think this is the school for me. " Oh my god did I struggle with this. Sending my 14 year old away to a school that did not know me or him. He was right, The Gow School was the best thing that happened to Thomas. Their education is the best of the best, their way of dealing with the language based difference, dyslexia, gave Thomas the only true opportuntiy he had to succeed. Thomas graduated in 2009, now attending Curry College, its a struggle at times but without The Gow School college would never have happened. Thank you Gow!

Not change a thing. The Gow School is on top of everthing. They know how to deal, teach and help our children how to get the best education for these young adults. They and Brad Rogers, headmaster, really know what they need to do. They are our family.
Dear People, My grandson attends the Gow school. It has been a life changing experience for him! He is doing well academically, and has gained in self confidence. He has become a real leader. This school is doing a superb job. Sincerely, Carolyn Pryor

We were really frustrated, both parent and child. Meeting the Gow family helped us understand how our son could grow and make it to college. He is a senior going off to college in the fall of 2011! What a great place for understanding his strengths and working with him to succeed. I would recommend Gow to any parent with a son with Dyslexia. Nancy Cumberland, Anchorage, Alaska

GOW is an amazing school that benefits so many young men! It is a true asset to its community and the world. They are a family that not only helps young men overcome and/or live with dyslexia, but it gives these young men the confidence, networking, service, and team building skills that will help them succeed and bring a greater good to our world. My nephew recently started at the school, and the difference in him as a person is impressive! As an aunt of a student and a high school English teacher, I can honestly say that GOW an AWESOME opportunity for the struggling young men with dyslexia. Keep up the good work!

The Gow School is an answer to any dyslexic student's prayer, as well as an answer to the parents prayer. Our son David was fortunate enough to attend the Gow School for a 13th year. This year was the most effective and important year of his education. This school better prepared him to go on and graduate from college and also better prepared him for life. We will forever be thankful to all who touched his life at Gow.
David now is trying to help other young people in the same way.
I would recommend this school to any dyslexic student from 7th grade on. You won't be sorry.

We sent our son to GOW for a 13th year to better prepare him for college. The small classes which helped him to be successful, along with building his confidence plus the great organization skills he gained in that one year were invaluable. He left GOW and received a bachelor's degree from DePaul University. There are many times as a parent you worry that you made the right decisions for your child. Sending him to GOW was indeed the best decision we could have made for our son.

Find a way for more students to experience this great school!
GOW is an outstanding school with total commitment to the students. My grandson is in his first year there and I have been so impressed with the faculty, administration and staff at GOW. They do an outstanding job with the young men who are proud to be part of GOW. Our grandson is dyslexic and never had the academic interventions in public school that GOW offers. He loves GOW and feels comfortable and has hope now that he can learn to read and have success in school. He is young to be away from home and family but GOW has made him feel that he is now part of the GOW family. The students do community service and are shown how to be a part of a caring world.

Gow School enables motivated students with language based learning differences to follow a rigorous college prep high school curriculum and graduate from high school with a great high school diploma. Nearly every grade 12 student is accepted to a 4 yr college program. Many of these students would have been steered into non academic programs if they had stayed in traditional public schools. Gow gives these boys a choice.

It was suggested to send my Daughter there for summer camp... and let me tell you she bloomed the following year in school... Thankfully I was able to get a beautiful financial aid package. I wish that there was a way of bringing more of this type of educating to public schools.
