My son has learning disabilities. As a family we experienced despair, awareness, and acceptance while living with, gaining knowledge about, and exploring alternatives to understand our son's problem. Now, the Gow School has no given us hope. The faculty and staff understand and tailor their program to the needs of the individual child. This knowledge and understanding is based upon decades of experience per staff member. I feel that I have found the optimal educational experience for my child.

My son attended the Gow summer camp program and it made a huge difference in his life. He was 13 years old and struggling in school as well as socially due to a learning disability in language processing and ADHD. Thankfully we were put in touch with an Education Counselor who strongly recommended that our son attend Gow's summer program. It turned his life around! What a joy it was for us to see our precious son turn from being depressed, despondent and isolated to engaged, socially active and most of all hopeful. He could not wait to return to the summer program the following year. Please support Gow. We owe them so much.

My son benefited from the small classes, the hands on learning and the opportunity to be a big fish (it is a small pond, but that didn't seem to matter). After graduating from Gow (2008) he went immediately to Texas State University and although the academics are challenging, he is meeting success.

It was suggested to send my Daughter there for summer camp... and let me tell you she bloomed the following year in school... Thankfully I was able to get a beautiful financial aid package. I wish that there was a way of bringing more of this type of educating to public schools.

Parenting is a full time job and with that job comes the responsibility of providing our children with the best education you possibly can. We hit a wall in our hometown high school and it was no longer a proper place for our son. There was bullying and school was extremely difficult. We were lucky enough to have found The Gow School. Our son became the individual he is today because of the caring and giving from the Gow staff of teachers and their spouses. Our son found strength in his studies and self esteem he never would have found in himself. This school and program are so unique and special and we trusted the school with our son and they returned to us a self confident young man we all love. But the important thing the Gow School did was show our son how important it is to love yourself!

As an ex-trustee as well as student at this school for four years in the forties and early fifties I feel it really helped me with my self-confidence as I had failed the eighth grade the previous year at a fancy boarding school with no clue about my problem; this institution did the easy thing and just dumped me as a hopeless case. At Gow I found caring and sympathetic teachers who enabled me and my classmates to go on to college and life with my head held high.

As parents, we saw the doors to successful learning unfold for our high schooler. We saw self esteem strengthen in our son to allow him to become an astute learner and community participant. It was the answer to many questions and prior disappointments. I cannot express how appreciative we are to have been part of the caring learning environment at GOW.

Gow, what a hidden treasure, we knew our son had some language base challenges and sent him to gow for 2 summers the first summer was the most dramatic his self confidence and self perseverance was amazing his eyes light up every time he talks about Gow. That was 5 years ago and he still talks about returning to the Gow Summer program today. His academic success is without a doubt imbedded with skills he learned from Gow over the two summers he was there. My son currently a Junior at a public high school and clearly still benefits today . If anyone is looking to impact a young man's life your gifts to this school would have such a great impact and you would not be disapointed because clearly they have great focus and success

The Gow School provided the encouragement I needed to help me leave my comfort zone – it’s mission, values and structure required me to participate in activities I would have otherwise passed up. I gained newfound confidence which helped me not only while in college, but also upon graduation as I entered the workforce. Gow’s structure provided the discipline I needed and it helped me create strong study habits that were so important in college and beyond. As ironic as seems, Gow’s structure helped me with time management and thus gave me a strong sense of independence so needed when one transitions into adulthood. Because I embraced the school’s mission and values, I was able to take advantage of their programs, all of which were geared to help me with my dyslexia.
