I am able to volunteer with several weekly activities weekly and I get to see the difference Good Shepherd makes to many people throughout the community. I drive 4th Quarter residents to AA meetings, work and school on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to Good Shepherd Center on Fridays. I also play guitar with veteran residents at the Ashley center on Wednesday nights.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing how quickly residents make changes in their life and the ways they are supported through the Good Shepherd center.

This is a great organization and is so valuable to the community. I help organize the fund raising events. The community loves to come out and support these events b/c they know that the proceeds are used responsibility and it's for a great cause. So many are helped by GSC.

I took a tour of Good Shepherd two weeks ago and was so moved by the good work that is done there that I went home and thought about the best ways I could help. Everyone I met who works there was so inspiring to me. This past Saturday, I went to Good Shepherd and served lunch, and what a wonderful experience! The clients were so appreciative and went out of their way to thank us for the meal. I look forward to giving much more of my time to Good Shepherd in the future.

I volunteer at The Good Shepherd and I am always very pleased with the friendliness of the residents given their situation. I think this is due to the facility and the people who work there for being good hearted and cooperative.

I have been a volunteer at Good Shepherd for over 15 years. I started out buttering bread! I have been in charg of the Thursday group in th kitchenfor the last 12 years. It has been a truely rewarding experence, Workong with the other volunteers and seeing how the clients apprecite what we do for them, and how they have grown in their appreciation and hav helped themselves to cope with their problems and improved themselves!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The feeding of the clients, using the day labor pool, soliciting contributions, colecting food stuffs from contributors and organizing the annual golf tournaments.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Working wit all the great people, both volunteers and staff, and seeing how it helps the clients.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Great people.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand with the servives and help more people. Also reduceour neet to plead for help - but not so much that we loose sight of how to serve others

Ways to make it better...

More people become involved.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Competing wit all the other charities for support.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Come on down and see what we do. See what you can do to help.

We always enjoy coming to the Good Shepherd Center. It is a first class facility and from our viewpoint in service and preparation of food, they always do a good job. A number of our church members come, we also bring our families and children. We feel very safe and welcome. We look forward to seeing the staff and the other volunteers. Thank you for the opportunity to serve.

All you have to do is talk to the guests who are benefitting from the services of The Good Shepherd Center to appreciate there but for the grace of God go I. I recently attended the graduation of a resident from Ashley Center, an eighteen month transitional living program. What I witnessed was the power of a community center built on mutual support among the residents. This particular community of men nurtured the newcomers, developed self responsibility and leadership within the residents, and then through the testiminials of past graduates gave encouragement and confidence to the graduates that their upward journey was just beginning and in fact had unlimited potential. Each graduate's success is no small victory and having them return to fulfilling their human potential and to embrace their potential to help others, is a "shining moment".

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Being involved with the energetic staff & board members as we seek to address this vital community need.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

add more resources to alleviate the contributing causes of homelessness, and provide more medical and vitally important mental health services to guests.

We have been involved with Good Shepherd on several occasions. We want to continue to provide time and products to the shelter. It is a top notch facility and all of the volunteers work at making an impact on all of their guests daily. We are honored to be able to help in any small way to be a part of the great work the Good Shepherd provides for this cities homeless population.

Helped put together a fundraising event at Good Shepherd Center known as Help-Portrait. Scott Litten and the rest of the staff are courteous, helpful, and do amazing work for this community. I cannot express how hard they try, and succeed at making this world a better place.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Amazing. Always smiling and doing their best to make life a little better for those in need.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Probably put a huge dent in homelessness in the Southeastern North Carolina area.
