My experience with GTTDRI is one that's overwhelmingly positive. I had seen a long haired Chihuahua on my Facebook page that was in a high kill shelter (Devore) in California who was in danger of being PTS within days. This beautiful little boy touched my heart. Living in NY I doubted that I would find a way to adopt him. I followed his thread on Facebook as a total novice, but asked questions and people were kind enough to help me out. I pledged money toward his safe rescue without knowing if, when or by whom he would be saved. I even talked to the shelter personnel a couple of times trying to find a way to adopt him. On Friday 20 Jan 2012 I saw on Facebook that he had been saved by Gone to the Dogs Rescue Inc. I sent my pledge money through PayPal and then emailed GTTDRI expressing my interest in adopting Nemo (his new name ). Marcy Janes of GTTDRI called me on Monday night about my interest in Nemo. We talked for a long time and I was very impressed at the dedication, care and concern Marcy showed for Nemo's welfare. She sent me an application, I sent her references, my Vet info, pictures of where Nemo would live, etc. In the meantime, Marcy had Nemo neutered and placed him with a Foster Mom, Cathy Benedict, who nursed him back to a healthy enough condition to fly to NY. Marcy explained the adoption fees, minus the amount I had already paid for his rescue, which is very generous of this rescue. Marcy recommended COAIR Pet Safe. I made Nemo's reservation for Feb 6. This date had to be changed to Feb 7th, Marcy kept me informed every step of the way. When Nemo had been put on the plane early Feb 7th, (7:00 am California time) Marcy called me to,let me know he was on his way. I had paid his flight through PayPal, Marcy let me know that it was less when she got to the airport and tried to refund the difference to me. Nemo arrived safely at 5:50 pm in Syracuse, still warm in his little crate with the blankets and coat Marcy had made sure he had for comfort. Marcy, Cathy, Taunya and Dawn have all checked in with me numerous times to see how Nemo is doing. This Rescue group is amazing, so caring, compassionate and giving of themselves, their time, their love for the fur babies that need saving. I know how limited their resources must be and I am sure that much comes out of their own pockets. Truly, I am in awe of how much they do and how unselfishly they give of themselves for this cause. I can' t say enough about how grateful Nemo and I are for GTTDRI saving his life and the efforts made by them to get him all the way to me in NY state. I realize out of state adoptions are not done very often, but I am certainly thankful that this worked out, all due to the concerted efforts of this amazing Rescue Group. Hugs and kisses from Nemo and me!

I have fostered/am currently fostering for GTTDRI and they have been wonderful for me. Please consider opening up your home and fostering an animal in need, GTTDRI supplies everything, all you need to give is love! When one foster dog did not work out in my home as she required care beyond my expertise, they came and got her the next day. I felt horrible for not helping in this instance but they were extremely cooperative and even thanked me for giving it a shot. If you are unable to foster, DONATE so they can save more animals!

I had the honor of helping this organization rescue a dog from the shelter, and it was clear from our very first exchange that they love animals and put the dogs' well-being first and foremost. They are kind-hearted souls who work tirelessly on behalf of the animals. Please consider supporting them, whether as fosters, donors, or volunteers.

I helped rescue two corgi sisters from the Kern shelter. We thought we had fosters, then furrever homes, but it didn't pan out. We tried everything we could to find a foster/furrever home. That is when Gone to the dogs rescue stepped in and helped us. At first we needed to find a foster close to them, but when that didn't work out, they didn't give up on us or our corgi girls. They begged everyone, and they found a foster, not even near them, and just made it work. The girls were adopted at their second adoption event done by GTTDRI and they found an amazing family where they could stay together. I will never forget what they did for me, and all of us involved in the original rescue, and the corgi girls will forever be greatful.
