I came across GO after my own volunteer experience at an orphanage in Tanzania. I knew I wanted to work more with orphans and children who were in need. My first meeting with GO was greater than I could have hoped - they were exactly the organization I was looking to work with. The dedication they have to all of their projects, to all of their children around the world, is humbling and inspiring. Sharon, Diana and Scott are some of the most hard working and committed people I have had the pleasure to work with!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing that the money really does go directly to the children they talk about.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Create another staff position so I could work there with them every day!

GO Campaign is an incredible organization. Not only do they give 100% funds to at risk children around the globe, they offer trackable access to all their current campaigns on line. It's also an excellent charity and teaching tool for families. KIds can become GO Ambassadors, and really see how their contributions directly make positive, immediate change in the lives of their counterparts around the world.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

getting to know the director, Scott and the board members who travel to Cambodia and Africa and really choose their projects carefully, and get results!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

not make any changes

GO Campaign is one of the most incredible organizations that I have ever come across. Everyone there is passionate and dedicated to helping those in need. Because the overhead costs are paid for, 100% of the donations that they get go straight to the organizations, which I think is very important, since that tends to be what you're raising money for in the first place. I love that they work directly with grassroots organizations in order to help communities help themselves, and which also allows them to give help more directly to those in need.

Also, GO has so many different projects in so many different places that anyone can find something that they are passionate about, rather than being limited to whatever project GO happens to be doing. They have done so much good in so many ways, and there is something that everyone can be passionate about, whether it's a country, an age group, or a specific kind of volunteering, like poverty or education. Furthermore, the people at GO are so supportive of all of the projects and volunteers, that they foster a passion in the volunteers themselves. Anytime I have ever needed help with anything, and every project that I've done, they have always given me the help and support that I needed to make my projects successful.

I first started working with GO campaign when I had the opportunity to meet three Tanzanian orphans that my neighbors were housing for a short period of time as a result of one of GO Campaign's projects. Meeting Thomas, Coleman, and Abdul and hearing their stories and outlooks on life change my life and the way that I looked at things, and inspired me to give back more. I started a club at my high school called Reaching Out to Africa (ROTA). We visited schools and gave interactive lessons to help raise awareness, and we also had fundraisers from bake sales to a huge carnival where we made all the games out of recycled goods.

More recently, I have been working through GO with HOPE, an organization that is working to educate children in Borgne, an area in rural Haiti. I have been very lucky in that not only is GO campaign the kind of organization that allows for you to be flexible and to become involved in any way and in any project that you want since they have so many different kinds of projects in so many different places, but they have been supportive of me every step of the way.

I have experienced results with everything that I have done with GO. Recently, Scott sent me a picture of the vegetable garden that my high school club raised money to buy for a Tanzanian Orphanage. I have been directly involved in all of the projects that I have implemented, have been able to choose what I wanted to fund raise for, and have always been able to see where that money is going and how it was benefiting others.

If I had to make changes to this organization I would get more people to know about it and more people to volunteer for it.

Very Well

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

They have been fantastic and inspiring, and I wouldn't change a thing about my volunteer experience.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

My volunteer experience has had a profound experience on me. It has not only changed the way that I view the world and made me more passionate about it, but through the projects that it has inspired me to undertake, I've learned how to plan and teach lessons to students, plan and publicize events, and how to best utilize what resources you have.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

This volunteer experience has made me feel fantastic. I can see the differences that I have made, and it makes me glad to know that I have changed people's lives for the better, and I want to continue doing it. It also makes me happy to know that there are so many people that are passionate about improving people's lives, and that we can actually make such a big difference in people's lives.

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

The folks at GO are incredibly hard working and, more importantly, incredibly honest. The money goes to where it is supposed to go...
By leveraging relationships with existing non-profits they make their money go farther.
I've worked with them specifically on endeavors in Cambodia. They have very willingly and ably coordinated with local organizations to maximize the impact of the dollars spent.
They aren't re-inventing the wheel, they are making it spin more efficiently!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Cambodia, where they have worked to help meet the needs of an orphanage administered by some local Buddhist monks. They raised the funds to build a new high school pretty much overnight. Then they monitored the project to be sure it was going according to plan...and now a village in Cambodia has its first high school in 30 years.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

wish that they had even more resources to allocate because they do it so well.
