Congratulations to Global Links, the role model for other organizations who wish to become expects in the areas of medical equipment procurement and distibution that saves lives while protecting the environment. I have volunteered in under-resourced countries as an OB/Gyn physician and have witnessed lives saved with sutures, gloves and medical equipment donated by Global Links. Children and adults breath easier with donated nebulizers that have made the difference between life and death. Twenty years of service to both local and global communities have been the unwavering committment of the Global Links management, staff and volunteers.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Latin American countries and Swaziland in many hospitals and clinics.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

promote current programs that continue to be overwhelmingly productive.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the positive energy of the volunteers.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

assets to an organization that represents service without compromise.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

increase the number of clients served, help other non-profits develop and implement like services that are efficiently run and maintain a focus that preserves the environment for future generations.

Ways to make it better...

If I had involved Global Links in many of my earlier missions

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the degree of global need.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Global Links has been practicing "the greening of American" as well as other countries for twenty years.

As a Pediatrician with over 35 years of experience, I have worked with many volunteer organizations. I have watched one such organization, Global Links grow from a tiny organization 20 years ago collecting outdated surgical sutures working out of a warehouse office to send to the Medically needy to the outstanding, well run, truly non-profit organization that it is today! Without doubt it has become one of the most successful organization of it's kind, helping many thousands of Medically needy providing tons of medical supplies that otherwise would have ended up in landfills. Although their primary mission is to help the needy and save lives (Global Links has helped to save many) the environmental benefits are significant. By keeping tons of used and expired medical equipment out of landfills and placing them where they can do the most good Global Links has provided both improved health for those in need while improving the environment at the same time. And you know what? They are still working out of a warehouse office! I believe Global Links is the best of the best doing outstanding work for the world's Medically under-served while helping to improve the environment. Louis A. DiNicola, MD FAAP

Ways to make it better...

I actually went with them to help

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The financial stress the world is in now.

For the past 9 years I have been privileged to be not only a volunteer at Global Links, but also to witness first hand the impact that Global Links has on the recipients of the medical supplies they provide. I am a member of a group which supports an orphanage and a clinic and hospital in Guatemala that provides medical care to the impoverished Mayan people. Our group has volunteered at Global Links for 9 years, always impressed with the dedication and passion of the staff. During this time, we have traveled annually to Patzun, Guatemala, transporting much needed medical supplies from Global Links to the clinic and hospital, and then have helped with medical and dental care of the indigenous people, especially those in remote villages with no access to medical care. Their gratitude was overwhelming, but without Global Links' help we would not have been able to do this. Saving lives with what would otherwise be landfill is the ultimate 'green' organization.

I worked at Global Links prior to attending veterinary school. I started as a volunteer and then was an employee. As an employee, I was in charge of procurement from local hospitals and medical organizations. I was impressed with every level of this organization. As a volunteer and an employee, I was inspired to not only decrease medical waste in the United States but to have an awareness of and desire to help those in need in developing countries. The spirit of global links lives on in me and always will. It's a wonderful organization with leaders who live the mission. In a recent trip to Mexico to work on a spay/neuter project, I thought about how my experience at global links opened my eyes to the various ways we can all give.

Global Links has continuously donated supplies to help the women in our program. We have received large amounts of baby formula and feminine hygiene products. Global Links has been very generous and consistent with these donations. The contribution to our organization helps provide necessities to the women of HEARTH who are trying to get back on their feet. HEARTH is a transitional housing agency for homeless women with children. the participants are required to enroll in some type of post secondary education. As the women complete their education and raise their families, it can become overwhelming. The supplies Global Links donates to HEARTH goes directly to the women and helps lessen their burden tremendously! Thanks Global Links!!

This is truly one of the greatest nonprofits I have ever worked with. The duel mission of sharing medial surplus in a meaningful, responsible manner in oder to save lives was innovative 20 years ago when Global Links first started and remains at the cutting edge today. What this organization does is nothing short of miraculous, and every volunteer, donor, recipient, employee and board member knows that they are part of that miracle.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the impact the donations have made in the delivery of health care in other countries and the utmost respect the recipients have for Global Links.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change the world by expanding the number of health systems from which it recovers surplus, increase its programs into other countries and develop new ways to further its mission

Ways to make it better...

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding. They do an amazing job with so little.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Global Links should be recognized as a superior non-profit. If funding could be steadily and reliably increased, Global Links could help work with more health systems here and abroad.

I have been a donor to Global Links for many years, both directly and through United Way. Why? It's simple. This organization demonstrates how the commitment and drive of a few can help so many. Gathering surplus, usable, medical supplies, equipment, etc. that would otherwise be wasted; then economically sorting, evaluating, repairing, packing and shipping them to where they are most wanted and needed. It creates extremely positive energy emanating from the small, but mighty staff, the volunteers, the donor and recipient medical communities, and ultimately the individuals whose lives are bettered from the efforts. What a great force for good!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I first connected with Global Links years ago since I was so impressed with their mission and vision about improving people's lives as well as helping with a huge environmental problem. The dedication of GL staff is impressive and the consistency of their work is clearly shown in the amount of shipments they make. The partnerships they cultivate in vulnerable communities in Latin American are long-lasting and beneficial for all - both abroad and here in the United States.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the consistent number of shipments it makes. Moreover, I have seen the results of GL in the long-term partnerships it forms and supports throughout Latin America. This consistent support helps the partners in each country become stronger and offer more organized, efficient health services to the populations that need it most.
