The GFW is the best funder for women's organizations. It is trustful, reliable, fair. This is an organization that makes you feel important and visible in all parts of the world even if you are from a small and new NGO. They manage to support so many women from so much different backgrounds...sometimes I thing the women's organizations from the CEE survive only thanks to the continuing suport of the GFW.

Bring it closer to us :-)
I work with Inkworks Press, a worker-owned and collectively managed printing company in Berkeley. We have printed for Global Fund for Women for many years, and deeply appreciate working with them. Not only is their mission consistent with ours, but they're delightful people to work with. We'd love more customers like them.

Give them more money to do their work.
I can't talk about Global Fund for Women without talking about people there. In last seven years that I'm part of Reconstruction Women's Fund from Serbia and continuously cooperate with GWF, I had a chance to meet 3 Program Directors and 2 Program Officers for Europe and Central Asia (Annie, Angelika, Violeta, Katka, Betsy) and to be amazed with the enthusiasm, energy, creativity, dedication, wisdom, strong feminist politics that I saw in each of them. If GWF respects such a human/woman values that these people bring with themselves, I'm not surprised that they are the champions of the global social change.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Based on my personal experience with GWF, I wouldn't change anything. I would always advice the constant introspection and self-critique in the sake of "not resting on our laurels", but I would never forget to constantly applaud to such a great things that we all together did so far.
I have been acquainted with people of GFW for 11 years already, in a variety of positions: trainee, country advisor, colleague, grantee. In my perspective, GEW's special merit is that She manages to maintain an unbroken link between ultimate receivers and the elite of global women's movement. If we extend this chain with including donors of GFW, we will see that She supports both ends in their activity for such a worthy cause as ensuring rights and freedoms of the majority and democracy building worldwide. It is important to emphasize specially that GEW understands the specifics of the region of Eastern Europe and countries of post-Soviet space and has been contributing to the empowerment of women and girls for many years. GFW recognized the inportance of grasssroots level participation in the process of democracy building and has been supporting rural women's groups to the present.

I have special closeness with GFW as their contribution in the development of women's movement in Georgia always increased the successfulness of the activism of our organization; besides we have been grantee of GFW and experienced womderful partnership based on mutual understanding and complete trust.

This is not a case when I would want to interfere with any changes.
When we decided to found the Bulgarian Fund for Women back in the year 2004, we needed an organization that would serve as a bright example to us with its work and impact.Global Fund for Women was exactly what we needed-it changes minds in order to change lives, it empowers women and girls, it spreads feminism worldwidely. This is exactly what we decided to do and are still trying to accomplish in our small and faraway country.
In 2005 we recived our first support from the Global Fund for Women-not only financial though. We were encouraged and inspired and now, in year 2011, we are still inspired by the GFW. We stand right behind you as you, girls, always stood there for us. Because this is what real sisters do.

As an activist working in NGO in Central and Eastern Europe and Cetral Asia I must say that the support of Global Fund contributed to the strengthening of the feminist movement in our region. There are very few and less Foundations who support organizations in the CEE and CA countries.

Even more funding for Central and Eastern Europe
I joined the big GFW family in 2002 and I think it was a crucial moment in my life. From the very beginning I was amazed by the warmth and sisterhood spirit inside the organization. Tight communication slowly turned my interest to women's rights to the professional passion and commitment, which I fully applied in my home country Azerbaijan. What I like most of all in this organization is the fact that GFW is not only donor, but a real supporter to the numerous women's organizations around the world. The forms of support can vary from a campaign initiative up to the specific capacity-building initiative. For these 9 years I cannot help admiring the variety of approaches and flexibility of GFW, which I think, is breaking stereotype of "donor's own priorities", as GFW not only "listens", but also "hears" the concerns and, therefore, can meet the women's needs on a very efficient manner.

As a graphic design professional serving non-profits and small community organizations, it is a pleasure to work with such an exceptional organization. GFW gives me the opportunity to learn about the atrocities and the positive movements in international women's rights. They are a truly inspiration group, and I feel fortunate to be part of the extended family.

I'm not sure what I would change about GFW.
As an active volunteer with Kayan-Feminist Organization, I would like to thank the Global Fund for Women for supporting all of Kayan's activities in advancing the role of Palestinian Women in Israel. It has been a pleasure working with the GFW. Many of our projects have been made possible through GFW funding, including our most recent two-day seminar for Palestinian feminist leaders of grassroots community initiatives. Thank you GFW for being our partner!

Make no changes.
As the former President and CEO of the Global Fund for Women, I cannot claim objectivity. I can say with confidence that the women and men who work as staff at GFW bring all their talents, intelligence, and commitment to the job. The diverse global board brings perspective from the very communities that we seek to serve. And, finally the donor community of over 23,000 individual donors - from the young girls who send GFW their birthday and bar mitzvah cheques to the senior citizens who support us on a monthly basis, create a nurturing space for innovation and change. The women leaders that the GFW makes investments in around the globe grow to become changemakers in their communities - women like Sakena Yacoobi of Afghanistan or Mu Sochua in Cambodia or Zainah Anwar in Malaysia or Patricia Guerrero in Columbia. There are no other organizations in the US that allow you such a direct connection to grassroots women working to advance the rights of women and girls in 170 countries. Over 78% of the resources go to advance the program work of the Global Fund for Women including over $8.5 million made in direct grants to local women's groups.

I have traveled and met with women leaders all over the world and seen how the investments of the Global Fund helped build their capacity, help them strengthen their own voice and presence within their societies and outside, and advance the cause of women's rights and equality.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Not change much, other than celebrate the new direction and vision and leadership being brought in by the incoming CEO - Musimbi Kanyoro of Kenya! I know that she will do all she can to strengthen their programs focused on young women and girls around the globe - and expand their advisory council and board to include younger leaders from the women's rights movements globally.
