My wife and I, who are both high school social studies / history teachers, participated in the GEEO Southern Africa program during the summer of 2012. From sunset riverboat cruises with hippos, elephants, and kudu, to morning runs on the pristine beaches of Mozambique, this trip was a phenomenal experience. I really enjoyed the fact that we camped, helped cook food sourced from local markets, and were able to see quite a few schools as well. Even though I mostly teach American and European history, I use information and experiences from this trip all the time in my classroom. Our guide did a great job of making us comfortable and helping get the most out of our experience, and the trip gave me a new respect for the developing world.
If you are at all thinking about taking a trip with GEEO, sack up and do it. At first I was somewhat reluctant, but my wife convinced me, and I am so glad she did!

My husband (who is not an educator) and I (university preservice methods courses instructor) had a fantastic experience on the Turkey 15 day trip in 2012. The itinerary was a "just right" combination of educational experiences and fun, relaxing times. Our CEO was well-informed, personable, and concerned about each person's individual needs and desires. I have been recommending GEEO to all of my teacher friends who love to travel.

Last summer I went on my first GEEO trip to Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. I absolutely loved it! Being able to travel around the world, learn more about different cultures and bring new experiences into my classroom is absolutely exciting! I cannot wait to go on my next one.

I traveled with GEEO on Southern Africa trip last summer and it was most certainly the highlight of my life! The trip ran smoothly down to the smallest detail. Our guide/cook and driver (this was a camping trip) went above and beyond to make the experience an educational and enjoyable one for all. We were on-the-go for 24 days and every day was new and exciting! As educators, the school and teacher college visits were inspiring, but in addition, we saw so much more and visited out-of-the-way places that would be very hard to arrange on your own. The small size of the group (16) was ideal! Jesse, GEEO's founder, is knowledgeable, personable, prompt at returning calls and makes you feel like you are the most important person he deals with! I will definitely travel with GEEO again for as many years as I am able!

My wife and I traveled with GEEO to Peru in the summer of 2012 and had an outstanding experience. My wife is a high school Advanced Placement World and European History teacher and I am a retired school administrator. We have helped organize student tours to Europe and my wife has traveled extensively as a Fulbright scholar and as recipient of other travel grants. We believe that we are experienced travelers that have an understanding of how challenging it is to meet the diverse needs of tourists with a variety of agendas and expectations. That said, we were so pleased with the professionalism of Jesse who answered all of our questions quickly and accurately. We wanted to arrive several days early and stay a day late, and Jesse was able to make the process of booking accommodations and airport transfers low cost and easy. Our tour guide was a genuine intellectual who had a deep understanding of Peru's unique history, culture, religion, and cuisine. He had recently earn gourmet guide status, and he found some wonderful restaurants to try in both Lima and in Cuzco. Plenty of free time to explore on your own or with others, as well as organized tours that were interesting and beneficial. Most accommodations exceeded our expectations for tourist-class travel and we will return to both the hotels in both Lima and Cuzco when we return to Peru in the future. We also enjoyed the small group size and found the camaraderie among group members impressive. Just last week we booked a tour with GEEO for next summer to travel to northern India and Nepal. Good value, good people, good times...

I had a great trip with GEEO. I traveled to Peru in July 2012 and hiked the Inca trail. GEEO did a great job of preparing me for the trip and hike. I traveled with a diverse group of teachers from all over the country. We had a great time together. We were well cared for on the trip. Our guide was amazing! I learned a lot about the history and culture of the country. I also enjoyed our homestay in a remote Quechua community and our school visit. I look forward to traveling with GEEO again next summer.

I attended the Peru trip and this was my first experience traveling with GEEO. Our tour guide, Kiki, gave us just the right mixture of group led activities to places we also might want to go. Very few people think of the possibility of getting really sick when they travel. Kiki not only called a doctor to the hotel he came and saw me in the hospital twice a day. When the group left Cusco, a colleague of Kiki was assigned to assist me. You bet I will travel with GEEO again. Unfortunately, I missed over half the trip, but what I was able to attend was great.

This was my first time to travel with Geeo. Always before I have traveled with high school students with People to People so have high expectations. I loved how this program offered flexibility and was focused on both educational activities and adventure. The Program was one of light emersion into the culture, so we did not stay in 5- star hotels but rather boutique type hotels where we could interact with many of the locals. Our transportation ranged from public and private bus, to boats, etc. Most of the program is ala carte so you can choose things you are interested in and not have to pay or spend time where you lack interest. This also allows people to be more in control of their own budget. Our guide admitted the most fun and interesting activity he did with us was to visit the local school, which he had never done on any other program in his many years of being a Central American guide. I really enjoyed traveling with other educators of all ages. Our group was very diverse and ranged in age from 23 to 67. I could not get over how flexible and cordial everyone was, given our diversity. I will definitely travel with Geeo again.

I have traveled with GEEO for the past 2 summers. Last summer i traveled on their Costa Rica trip and this past summer i was on the Peru Trip. Both trips were amazing! I've spoken with other people who've been to Costa Rica and/or Peru and they don't even come close to getting the experiences that GEEO provides. With GEEO, you are educated about the culture, history, people, food, and traditions of that country. I was also given the opportunity on certain days to choose between adventurous excursions. By having this array of experiences and visiting more than a few cities in these countries i've been able to bring alot of what i've learned back into my classroom and include in some of my lessons, giving my high school students are more global perspective. I have already booked my trip to Thailand with GEEO for this summer and i look forward to traveling with them until i've exhausted all of their trips.

I took the GEEO.org Costa Rica Adventure trip and it was an amazing experience. Everything was well thought out and the packing list we were given ensured i was well prepared. The hotels we stayed at were very nice, some with amazing views of the ocean, volcanos, etc. The transportation was very comfortable between cities and all guides were extremely courteous and accomodating. The tour guide that Geeo hired was excellent, very informative, and very entertaining. All but two of us in our group travelled alone, and i beleive everyone felt completely safe throughout the whole trip. Geeo also did a great job in dividing 2 Costa Rica groups along age lines so the group i went with had a lot in common and usually agreed on the adventures/excursions to participate in. I will definintely be participating in another Geeo.org adventure next summer and for many summers after that.
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the ease of which i was able to take this trip. Everything on the trip was run smoothly.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
not make any changes. They are doing an amazing job already.

I, too, am an educator and I have had the pleasure of traveling with GEEO last summer to China and again this summer to Costa Rica. Traveling with GEEO is the best experience ever. The guides ensure your safety, you have the opportunity to be completely immersed into the authentic culture of whatever country you are visiting, and the lodging arrangements are good. I am totally hooked on traveling with them. All arranagements are made for you, you just need to show up! I recommend it to everyone!
