My wife and I started supporting GIBTK about 8 years ago. At first we felt this organization would give immediate help to needy children of Vietnam, preventing hunger, offering needed corrective surgeries and building safe homes. But this organization goes far beyond triage and stands out from others by building long term relationships. Children are not only given needed medical and nutritional support but are shown love and concern for their future as leaders in a ever changing Vietnam. I had the opportunity to travel to Vietnam in 2006 with Robert Kalatschan and see first hand the life changing work being done there by GIBTK. We followed up with children who had previous orthopedic and life saving surgeries, visited families who had new homes built for them and stayed in touch with children at the orphanages. I'll never forget the kids lining up for hugs at the orphanages. Recently, my wife and I have the privilege of supporting a young man in his college studies. We are proud to be a part of Giving It Back To Kids.
After serving in Vietnam in 1969, I went back two years ago and hooked up with GITBK in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh), Da Nang, and Hanoi. I saw hundreds of children and families served by an organization that has minimal adminstrative overhead and a Director and wife who think this is Gods "calling" for them. Houses for despartely poor; wheelcharids for the crippled, open heard operations for children with no chance, kindergartens and the "works" where no schools existed before., bicycles, blankeys and hugs for every child craving affection. Robert Kalatchan gets way ahead of himself sometimes because he finds it hard to say no. I would to.
I met Robert through a good friend. I visited his website and impressed the works that they have done for the poor kids in Vietnam. I invited Robert and Dorothea to our church to share their ministry. We were blessed to listen to what they shared about the works they did, and we supported financially in occasions. We trusted their works and their hearts for God. We continue to pray for their ministry.
We were introduced to GIBTK some years ago now -- The organization and its approach to how they spend our donations was quite impressive to my wife and I -- We want our donations to be used the best way possible and it is with GIBTK - We think that it is so good that we have included it in our will so that it will be helped even after we are gone - So, please keep up the great work that you are doing -- L & M
My wife and I have watched this organization grow from the ground up at astonishing speed. The alturistic committment by Robert and his family and friends and volunteers to caring for others is an example for all. Once logged onto his website email@example.com you recieve updates on the events, concerns, and outreach activity with photographs and life stories that has touched our hearts.
I have been friends with Robert and Dorothea Kalatschan for many years and have been involved with "Giving It Back To Kids" almost since its beginning. I was there when a little Vietnamese baby came into their lives. When they went to Vietnam to find a little sister for him, I saw their hearts captured by the many needs of the Vietnamese people. I taught public school in Southern California for 30 years and education is very important to me. I became a donor and when my husband passed away, I helped to start a scholarship program in his name for children that were graduating from the orphanages or for those who had no opportunity to further their education and make their dreams come true. Robert and Dorothea have created a charity that is relational, not just situational. They developed long-term relationships and have become like parents for many of the children and families they have helped over the years. They care deeply about the people, their needs, and ways they can give them a lift up, whether it be by life-saving surgery, providing a wheelchair, building a home, opening a home for unwed mothers, building kindergartens or providing a loving home for street children. I wrote to children in several of the orphanages and now am thrilled to see those little ones graduate from the orphanages and have the support to further their education which will lead to a good job in the future. I have watched the teams that go over to Vietnam with Robert and Dorothea learn what it means to give of themselves and develop a world view that will impact the lives of countless needy around the world.
Robert and Doretha have done a tremendous job impacting many aspects of Vietnam thru "Giving It Back To Kids". They are wonderful pioneers of childrens work and a role Model to many.
Having been to Vietnam to see first hand of the work being accomplished with Robert, I am a peace in being a donor and friend of their work.
My hope is that many others will find great joy in contributing and helping in this tremendous humanitarian work.
I love this organization because I love the vision of helping children that desperatately need it. This organization gives hope to people who would not otherwise have it if not for Dorothea and Robert Kalatschan who started GIBTK. These two people give their lives to help so that others see the love of Jesus by giving parents hope that their children will live by receiving heart surgeries; that people who had to crawl can now receive wheelchairs to experience life again; that build homes so people can have shelter and provide for their children; that give students hope to get an education and flourish in society; the list goes on and on. The two things I love most is the heart of the organization which is the heart of God and their integrity in honoring everything they say they do they will do.
