We were introduced to GIBTK some years ago now -- The organization and its approach to how they spend our donations was quite impressive to my wife and I -- We want our donations to be used the best way possible and it is with GIBTK - We think that it is so good that we have included it in our will so that it will be helped even after we are gone - So, please keep up the great work that you are doing -- L & M

My wife and I have watched this organization grow from the ground up at astonishing speed. The alturistic committment by Robert and his family and friends and volunteers to caring for others is an example for all. Once logged onto his website robert@givingitbacktokids.org you recieve updates on the events, concerns, and outreach activity with photographs and life stories that has touched our hearts.

On one summer trip to Vietnam with GIBTK, there was a room full of desperate parents bringing in their sick children in hopes to be a recipient of a life saving heart surgery. One by one, Robert the organization's founder listened to each story with tears in his eyes and told the families that with them help of generous donors, GIBTK would be able to pay for their child's surgery. The next year when I returned, I was saw those same children after the surgery and their parents with joy and hope in their eyes that had not been there just a year before. This isjust one example of what this amazing organization does year after year.

when I was on another trip with GIBTK and got the opportunity to help fund a home to be built for a lady and her two young children. I heard later from staff members that the same lady eventually started her own noodle business and that business was doing well for her that she was able to support her family. It was something simple like a hand up and it gave this woman a chance to stand up on her own and change her family's life. I will never forget the tears of joy she had in her eyes that day.

I'm not a risk-taker and while Robert and Dorothea Kalatschan had asked me many times to be part of a team with GIBTK I was too scared. Finally, in 2007 I broke through my fears and my family and I traveled to Vietnam. This experience truly changed my life. We delivered wheelchairs to people who had crawled their entire lives. Unthinkable by American standards but proudly I can say that GIBTK has partnered with Free Wheelchair Mission and provided over 50,000 wheelchairs to needy recipients in Vietnam. I've held the babies of Mom's who without GIBTK would not have been born. Thanks to a program called The Father's House, these young unwed teens are able to keep their babies and their dignity. GIBTK provides support to many orphanages but I can tell you personally how fun it is to take the kids to a water park for the day or treat them for pizza and ice cream thanks to GIBTK. GIBTK is all about relationships and caring about people. I can't wait to be a part of another team with GIBTK.

On our 2007 trip my family and I funded a heart surgery for a very frail and fragile young boy named Trung, who was desperately in need of a lifesaving heart surgery. On a return trip in 2010, I watched as Trung came bouncing up the steps toward me. He was healthy, strong and busy, buzzing around the office. His Mom and I locked in a hug and for once I didn't need an interpreter to know what she was thinking. That was one of the best days of my life.

I would not change a thing. GIBTK is like no other charity because of the transparency and authentic way they operate. GIBTK has evolved over the years naturally moving from what Robert calls "triage relief" to investing in the kids lives long term. For example, GIBTK is now sending to college many of the children that GIBTK supported in the orphanages.

Hi, I'm Beverly. Since my husband retired from pastoring in 2007 we have been living in Vietnam seven to eight months each year doing charitible work. Vietnam is not new to us, we have been coming here on short trips for the past 18 years. I met Robert last year, and after visiting some of GIBTK'S charitible works in both Saigon and Danang, I immediately recognized that I wanted to participate in the work he has so wonderfully established. He is a man with a genuine fathers heart, and it's easily recognized by the many people he serves here in Vietnam. Last year I began working with The Fathers House and have found wonderful fulfilment with serving there. I have also had opportunity to observe the many other charitible works he has established and can sincerely say that in the 18 years I have been coming to Vietnam, I consider GIBTK'S the greatest charitible organization I have encountered here. And its character and integrity is of the highest degree.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The care of the mothers and their children and Robert's willingness to invest in training them to have the life God wants for them. I also see the cardiac patients after their recovery, and the gratitude expressed. The smiles and joy of the lives that change upon receiving a free wheelchair can never be forgotten. And especially the phenomenal expression of wonder when a family learns they are going to receive a new house.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Open more houses like Father's House.

I have been friends with Robert and Dorothea Kalatschan for many years and have been involved with "Giving It Back To Kids" almost since its beginning. I was there when a little Vietnamese baby came into their lives. When they went to Vietnam to find a little sister for him, I saw their hearts captured by the many needs of the Vietnamese people. I taught public school in Southern California for 30 years and education is very important to me. I became a donor and when my husband passed away, I helped to start a scholarship program in his name for children that were graduating from the orphanages or for those who had no opportunity to further their education and make their dreams come true. Robert and Dorothea have created a charity that is relational, not just situational. They developed long-term relationships and have become like parents for many of the children and families they have helped over the years. They care deeply about the people, their needs, and ways they can give them a lift up, whether it be by life-saving surgery, providing a wheelchair, building a home, opening a home for unwed mothers, building kindergartens or providing a loving home for street children. I wrote to children in several of the orphanages and now am thrilled to see those little ones graduate from the orphanages and have the support to further their education which will lead to a good job in the future. I have watched the teams that go over to Vietnam with Robert and Dorothea learn what it means to give of themselves and develop a world view that will impact the lives of countless needy around the world.

GIBTK has had a tremendous influence on my life as I began to look beyond myself to see the needs of others. My health has not allowed me to go to Vietnam but my heart goes with Robert and Dorothea on each and every trip. Their daily updates and pictures keep the needs of the Vietnamese poor in my mind and heart. I taught in Garden Grove and had many delightful Vietnamese children in my classes. I feel that this has extended my love for these people.

I feel that Robert, Dorothea and their board and staff have made very wise decisions as this organization has developed so rapidly. They are guided by love mixed with great wisdom. I really could not improve on what they have accomplished.

I met Robert a few years back when my daughter went to his orphanages in Vietnam to work. It was a remarkable experience for her to see the work being done and contribute in a small way. We have stayed in touch since then and I have watched at a distance the growth and breadth of Roberts work - its amazing for sure. If there is a charity worth supporting it is this one!

I have personally experienced the Kalatschan family in action- and am in awe of the love they have for the children of VN. Our family had a trip with Mr. California short pants in 2007 and it forever changed our lives. We were so inspired that we are all planning a trip back in the very near future. Seeing the needs in person and feeling the heart aches of so many young children in need has given us the desire to help GIBTK in any way we can. This is one non-profit that is making a difference one child at a time. GIBTKids- is in it for the long haul and continues to minister to VN.

I have been volunteering with GIBTK for six years and have sponsored a chikd for four of those years. The key word to this organization is LOVE lots and lots of LOVE! Robert & Dorthea has so much love and respect for the families, children of Vietnam and just give so much of themselves which flows over to us volunteers as well as people traveling over to help. We all just want to continue to give because of the love we see thru the eyes and actions of these two people and their family!

Robert and Doretha have done a tremendous job impacting many aspects of Vietnam thru "Giving It Back To Kids". They are wonderful pioneers of childrens work and a role Model to many.

Having been to Vietnam to see first hand of the work being accomplished with Robert, I am a peace in being
a donor and friend of their work.

My hope is that many others will find great joy in contributing and helping in this tremendous humanitarian work.

If I would make any changes I would recruit Board Members with more Asian international experience.
