This program is the work of Rob Rider, a fellow teacher at Interboro High School in Prospect Park, PA. As student council advisor I have worked with our kids to raise money for what began as a soccer program and now includes a school for the girls.

The summer before last my wife and I traveled to Nairobi, Kenya, and visited the school and soccer program located in Kibera, one of the world's worst slums. The 60+ girls in the classroom were focused, task oriented, and very interested about life in America. I spoke with them for about an hour in their classroom - a large well lit structure made of mud and tin. They then recited stories for us, danced, and played make-shift musical instruments. My wife and I were overcome with their interest in education, and their willingness to accept us. If not for this program, these girls would most likely have been either on the street, in jail, or dead. They are provided with uniforms, food, shelter, and a warm and caring staff and facility.
