Issues: Children & Youth

Location: 4610 Eisenhower Blvd Tampa FL 33634 USA

Mission: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. In today's world girls don't always have the opportunity to learn in an environment that supports their healthy development. Outside influences, peer pressure and modern culture put unrealistic expectations on girls and distort their view of true success. Girl Scouting provides a safe nurturing environment and positive role models that allows girls to discover their values and themselves, connect with others locally and globally, and take action to make the world a better place.
Results: Girl Scouts of West Central Florida serves nearly 19,500 girls and 8,500 adult members annually.
Geographic areas served: Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sumter counties
Programs: Served nearly 19,500 girls ages 5-17 in an eight-county jurisdiction. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

I have been a Troop Leader for almost six years and a Unit Consultant for almost three years. Our mission statement is: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. I can tell you from personal experience that this is absolutely true! I have seen girls change and grow in ways that would not be possible without Girl Scouts. These girls will become the successful movers and shakers of our future! They are learning important values and useful tools such as caring for and connecting with their community, working with charities, appreciating cultural diversity, earning and managing money, caring for their environment, and realizing their strengths and abilities individually and as a group. It is an amazing and beautiful journey I am fortunate enough to share with them as a volunteer.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing the members' growth and personal development in positive, invaluable ways.
