Georgeann and George are actually Mike and Sheila Brewer of Pinellas County, FL. The address they use for their "non-profit" is a liquor store in St. Pete. They live in Brooksville, FL on the same and ONLY property where the few animals they actually do have are held. The property is on 2.5 acres. There is not 40 acres like they tell out of state rescues in need of believing they've found refuge for an unwanted animal. There are NO other ranches helping them out to house animals they take in. There is NO onsite veterinarian and they are backyard breeders selling puppies for profit.
These people do not care for any of the animals given to them, it is simply a cash cow. They somehow always "slip through the cracks" of the authorities due to the "good ole boy" system in Hernando County, people who chose to believe their garbage, and found loop-holes in system.
Anyone that has handed over an animal to them, I ask you, have you EVER followed up to see how the animal was doing? Have you ever had proof of the actual foster or adopter??? I doubt it. Why? Because there aren't any. Why? Because they take the cash and "bye bye" goes the animal. One gunshot usually does the trick. Georgeann's (Shiela) friend and big reason she's gotten away with this for so many years just happens to work at the county landfill.
Has anyone seen the property? Interesting how so many animals are handed over to them, transported from all over the country, but none are actually there. Where are they?
To the person who posted about the cat that you wanted to take back and put into a nice foster home...George (Mike) was horrible to you because the cat was already done away with. Guaranteed.
Oh, and they've been known to dump the animals at various high kill shelters too.
It's also interesting that no one in the Tampa Bay area knows much about them but many people out of state do. Why? Because remaining under the radar will allow them to keep up this scam and keep all of the desperate pet owners and out of state rescue people in la la land thinking they found a loving place for the animals they've given up or supposedly placed in good hands.
I also ask you this. If not one single rescue group around has an ounce of space for an animal in need, why and how does Georgeann's Homeless Hounds ALWAYS have the ability to say "yes" ? Do they miraculously have an unending amount of land, available adopters and money in order to care for the hundreds of unwanted animals they take in? The answer is no and will always be no.
One day, the whole truth will come out. I hope I'm there to witness it.
BEWARE!!!

Reading this thread I have to say I don't think that this many people would just get on here and try to shut down a rescue if it was legitimate. Secondly the parvo claims are true. Why would the rescue treat a dog with parvo when they would endanger infecting the other dogs, especially if the vet said the dog will definitely die? Do they think they are smarter than a veterinarian? Do they have veterinary degrees? Why are the adopting out dogs that aren't fully vaccinated? The last person said I was told not to put my dog down until it was vaccinated. I have never adopted a dog that was not vaccinated for parvo and I have had 2 and am close friends with a breeder. The only way the vaccine doesn't work is if the dog has parvo before it receives the vaccine. Perhaps the vet has advised this "angrycustomer" to get boosters for her dogs since they were exposed to the virus. All the recent research I have done says that could be customary if your dogs are older and have not had a recent parvo vaccination as it is not required in older dogs. All of you who are defending this seem to be fake and perhaps just personal friends of the owners. Every customer , donater, and person who gave an animal is unhappy but all the "personal friends" or people who "have known them from middle school" are happy. Coincidence, I think not. Be Smart people, do your research.

I gave this organization a wonderful loving adult male cat that showed up at my house because I had two cats and one of those cats would not allow the newcomer to be in or around the house. I emailed 10 facilities and called three more. All were full to capacity or short foster homes. I was referred to HH by another rescue organization. I did not want to give up the cat, but I was short of time and had no option. I should have followed my first impression of these people. Two days later, a friend of a friend said they would like to foster the cat. I called HH and I offered to adopt the cat back at any cost in order to get into a more homelike environment. I was treated most rudely by George who hung up on me when I attempted to see if there was a way around a policy. I found him to be arrogant and ill-mannered in his explanation of their "board" policy. I have no knowledge of the quality of the facilities, but the people that run it are arrogant, ill-mannered, uncaring and inflexible. To my Brother traveling men, please heed my words.

I met george and georgeann when my son got into some trouble at school and had to do some community service.. he put in two weekends on her farm. My son is a high honors student and he was very impressed with her farm although they worked him hard he said all her animals were very well taken care of.. they didnt let him sluff off at all on any of the care.... When I went to pick him up after he was done, they met me at the gate of their ranch.. they did not let me in.. it was not because anything was amiss but because of libility and the fact that it makes some of the animals nervous... which i totally understand after she stated her reasons. it made sense. My son is also a leader in his ROTC program at school and still to this day does community service with homeless hounds and brings others with him. It is a great place. They take any discarded animal that needs a home. I have so many examples . way to many to write......... I just couldnt belive the things that have been said about this rescue since i know better because i have been there many times.. everytime i have a problem with a animal i call them and they have helped me EACH and EVERYTIME.. one nite it was at 1am when i noticed my ferret had gone down. I was freakin out and i called them, she told me to bring her over.. i thought she was gonna die.. I took her there at 1 am and left her.. gerogina told me to say a prayer and call her in the morning.... she worked with my baby all nite and pulled her thur.. so dont tell me that bullshit that she shots sick animals that is just so much crap.. she also took my neighbors puppy who couldnt walk on her back leg... george said she had pulled something.. they took that dog home and she is now walking on all four of her legs although it took a month and YES she is still there. I have seen this women (georgann) stop on the side of the road when someone was giving away free cats and tell them that they run the potential of providing gator bait for people... she does not always take a dontation for an animal . she is more concerned for the welfare of the animal.. I have be associated with them for more then two yrs now and yes I have been on the ranch and seen for myself.. they are selective for good reasons not because they have anything to hide which anyone can find that out if they check into the reports that animal control has posted about their ranch.. what u have here is with all this bullshit posting is several people who wanted their dogs "fixed" and then wanted them back without haveing to pay which believe me happens alot. people always seem to what something for nothing and scam to do it.. what a shame when in all reality george and georgann would have probaly helped them if they had asked. and yes they come off rough but that is their personality and their right.. not everyone is the proveribal sweet grandmother type but just ask them a few questions and they will talk your ear off with all the advice and help..

i have gotten a dog from them -my animal was not fixed and thats the way i wanted it, if you adopt from the pound then you dont have that option, i was given the choice- you failed to say that. also they told me they dont take checks as with many buss. these days, again I found no problem with that- as for charging a fee- food and shots all cost money the pound also charges fees -the animal i recieved for well feed and groomed.and i did check with animal control before adopting and they had nothing bad to say about this rescue- i think you people need to check your facts and not be so judgemental -its sounds like petty complaints - we have so few that put the hard work and care for animals that need the help -give them a break

This non profit should be shut down. They are not in it to help animals, and if you have had dealings with them, please file an IRS 13909 form to complain about them. Also, file a complaint with the state of Florida. You can do it online. Look under complaints about non-profits for the form.

They charge to take a dog I found that needed a home. Several hundred. Isnt this a rescue? They will charge the new owners an adoption fee too. They sell animals with no shots and altering. Isnt a rescue suppose to make sure they sterilize for overpopulation NOt make $$ off of people. I am concerned that this is a money making scheme and this isnt for the animals

I would not surrender any animal to this non-profit organization. I feel that should have been shut down years ago. more

I am disgusted that they are not shut down yet. One person posted they adopted out a dog not fixed.........they adopt out puppies not fixed, and they are just contributing to the over population problem. I don't know why anyone would trust them with any animal. They are not a rescue, Georgeann is "known" as a commercial breeder, which is well know in the animal community. For those of you who had a bad experience with them, have the "guts" to file a complaint. Your silence will permit her to continue what they are doing. Speak up for the animals, and help me get this placce shut down!!!!!!!!!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Nothing.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

There is no staff, just the president, and his wife.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

It would just "pocket the money", and do nothing for the animals.
