They took in a foster black Lab who was difficult and worked with him and rehabilitated him. He is now in his forever home. Thanks so much to these hard working, awesome folks who really love dogs and other animals and all they do for them. Thank you. Fradelle Milrad

After reading the malicious allegations made against Homeless Hounds I was absolutely stunned. By the way, for those of you who don't know what an allegation is, it means that you asserted that something was true WITHOUT PROOF! Not one shred of evidence has ever been presented to back up your ridiculous claims, which are just vicious and cowardly. Your actions are nothing but a witch hunt out to destroy one of the best rescues I've ever dealt with. Oh, and let's not forget that her lawyer offered hush money, which is a statement too inane to dignify with a response.

You people say that closing down rescues is for the good of the animals. What about those legitimate rescues you take pride in shutting down? When they're no longer operational, you tell me how many animals are "saved" when good rescues aren't there to take them anymore?

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing the lengths in which this exceptional and compassionate couple will go in order to make sure an animal has the best possible care and love.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

do absolutely nothing. Far be it for me to even think I could do a better job than George and Georgeann.

My donations are given to help with the care of the animals until they can find a forever home.

That anyone can rest assured that Homeless Hounds will take care of all an animal's needs, including lots of love.

Firstly let me say that i am appalled by the libelous unfounded statements i have read and heard about georgeann's shelter. i cannot contemplate the kind of human garbage that would spew the lies that have been said about these kind amazing people and their business. i myself have been gifted enough to meet these people and they have helped me and my little dog Eros on numerous occasions; as well as helping many other people i know. Whenever i need help with anything animal related i call george or georgeann before i do anything they truly know exactly what they're doing and they help me love and care for my pets in the best ways possible. I have been on their ranch on numerous occasions as a volunteer and still go there at least twice a week to donate food and help with the ranch every time i have been there the animals are always perfectly healthy and there are many animals there that if george and georgeann hadn't taken them in they would have certainly faced death at the hands of an uncaring shelter that would have euthanized them no more than two weeks after receiving them. in fact i know some of these animals by heart; big man, a once very aggressive german shepard, without georges training he would still be aggressive and have been put down by any other shelter. or molly an aggressive black lab who would have been put down as well. or even all of the little chiwawa breeds that they keep or the old nag of a horse and donkey, non of these animals would be adopted at any other shelter and would have faced the death penalty just because they're old or their original owners didn't treat them right or train them. these people, george and georgeann, are saints and should be given a medal for their kindness and thoughtless dedication to the animals they love and support not slandered by people they've never even met before. The criminals who perpetrated this crime should be ashamed of themselves.

As for the rediculous allegations that the animals are under fed at homeless hounds i have helped with feeding all of the dogs, cats, pigs, rabbits, chickens, and other assorted animals there on the ranch and not one animal is ever left out, and the food shed is always full with bag upon bag of pet food i have helped put in there before and its weighed over a ton in total when they purchased it all.

they help any animal in need they dont discriminate on any basis, if there is a chance they can help that animal they will and have done it. There aren't very many no kill shelters that are as big and operate so well and beneficial to the animals, after seeing george and georgeanns shelter i would never use, help, or support a kill shelter again; This selter is truely leading the way for animal care and there should be more people like them out there.

I met george and georgeann when my son got into some trouble at school and had to do some community service.. he put in two weekends on her farm. My son is a high honors student and he was very impressed with her farm although they worked him hard he said all her animals were very well taken care of.. they didnt let him sluff off at all on any of the care.... When I went to pick him up after he was done, they met me at the gate of their ranch.. they did not let me in.. it was not because anything was amiss but because of libility and the fact that it makes some of the animals nervous... which i totally understand after she stated her reasons. it made sense. My son is also a leader in his ROTC program at school and still to this day does community service with homeless hounds and brings others with him. It is a great place. They take any discarded animal that needs a home. I have so many examples . way to many to write......... I just couldnt belive the things that have been said about this rescue since i know better because i have been there many times.. everytime i have a problem with a animal i call them and they have helped me EACH and EVERYTIME.. one nite it was at 1am when i noticed my ferret had gone down. I was freakin out and i called them, she told me to bring her over.. i thought she was gonna die.. I took her there at 1 am and left her.. gerogina told me to say a prayer and call her in the morning.... she worked with my baby all nite and pulled her thur.. so dont tell me that bullshit that she shots sick animals that is just so much crap.. she also took my neighbors puppy who couldnt walk on her back leg... george said she had pulled something.. they took that dog home and she is now walking on all four of her legs although it took a month and YES she is still there. I have seen this women (georgann) stop on the side of the road when someone was giving away free cats and tell them that they run the potential of providing gator bait for people... she does not always take a dontation for an animal . she is more concerned for the welfare of the animal.. I have be associated with them for more then two yrs now and yes I have been on the ranch and seen for myself.. they are selective for good reasons not because they have anything to hide which anyone can find that out if they check into the reports that animal control has posted about their ranch.. what u have here is with all this bullshit posting is several people who wanted their dogs "fixed" and then wanted them back without haveing to pay which believe me happens alot. people always seem to what something for nothing and scam to do it.. what a shame when in all reality george and georgann would have probaly helped them if they had asked. and yes they come off rough but that is their personality and their right.. not everyone is the proveribal sweet grandmother type but just ask them a few questions and they will talk your ear off with all the advice and help..

An allegation by someone who is not willing to identify themselves, made the statement “her lawyer offered me money to shut up.” this is a FALSE MISSTATEMENTof fact that never occurred. Over the course of time, there have been a few false allegations and they have all been declared unfounded. If there is anyone with legitimate questions of concerns relating to the conduct of Georgeann’s Homeless Hounds & Foster Program of Florida, Inc., they are requested to contact my office directly.

I represent Georgeann’s Homeless Hounds & Foster Program of Florida, Inc., a Florida non-profit Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Homeless Hounds) and a D.A.R.T. Member Volunteer. Homeless Hounds has appropriate policies and procedures in effect when animals are surrendered to Homeless Hounds. Connie Brooks of the Pinellas County SPCA “ ... felt the ranch was clean and the animals were well cared for.” She specifically noted she did not see an abundance of feces and there was no foul odor on the ranch. Dr. Rhonda Johnson advised that she had “been familiar with them for 5+ years and has never seen any abuse, cruelty or neglect .... ” The State Attorney’s Office “... did not find any evidence of abuse or neglect on the ranch...... The animals on the ranch were all in good health and ... had access to food, water and shelter. The property was clean and well kept.” James R. Kennedy, Jr., Esq.

Georgeanne should be shut down! She almost killed the animal we gave her. Kept donation, called and lied, lied lied. Her lawyers offered me $ to shut up. By the way that isn't even her real name. She is in it for money. Sheila, I hope you read this. I thought you closed down. Now I know you just left Pinellas county. My endevors will continue now to include Pasco, Hernando etc. etc. etc.

Georgeanns homeless hounds should be giving an award for their compasion for the animals and the adoptive parents of the animals. We adopted a puppy in august of 2008. To our dismay our local vet made a mistake and this puppy died. I called Georgeann and she was just as upset as we were. Needless to say we adopted again in october this time we adopted a brother and sister and have totally enjoyed these wonderful little animals. I would not adopted from anyone else and refer her services any chance I get.

To Whom This May Concern: For starters, I do not see where my past posting was inappropriate, vague maybe. As far as for one step ahead of the law-well, I don't see where that response has anything to do w/ my posting. Anyway, here's my story - I hope you can help or get anwsers,a pic would still be a great help. My husband and I had to make a haste decision to find a new home for our dog Buddy whom we loved very much. It was a hard decision to make.We had our dog for two years and we were very attached, especially our 7 year-old son. We called the SPCA and Humane Society and they were both full and couldn't take in any more dogs of this breed. He was a Amer.Bull/Boxer/Pitbull mix. Awesome w/ kids. The problem was he only liked us.We moved to a new neighborhood and a few times he got out and chased some neighbors. He has never bit anyone but, we were worried that one day he could. My brother gave us your card and told us to call you and that you were good people. So we did. I spoke to Georgeann which was very convincing that I was doing the right thing. I told her we had a seven year-old whom would be heart broken to lose his dog and she told me how to go about it. She told me to bring them the dog while he was in school. So I did. She talked to my son later that night on the phone and assured him that it was the right thing to do. He asked for a pic of him being happy, which I asked for when I gave her the dog and she said she would send a pic via email. When we didn't recieve a pic I called 2 weeks after we have given him up. She said she couldn't find my email address and didn't have time to write it down, so she said for me to email it to her. Well, it kept coming back default. I had other people try and the same thing with them. So my husband called her and now she says the dog has been adopted out. So we can't get a pic. She had the dog for 2 monthe before he was adopted, and no pic.Christmas was here and my son would not come out to open presents w/ his family because he just wanted his dog. I explained to Georgeann that the picture would be closure for my son. She said she could not get a picture because she could not get him to hold still for a pictue. Well,I fail to believe that our dog was so hyper that she couldn'tget a pic, being as she has dealt w/ so many dogs and is well trained to handle this.So 2 weeks later my mom calls and asks her if she could contact the new owners and ask them to send a pic and explained to Georgeann that this pic is vital for proper closure for her grandson. Georgeann told her the new owners were very private and wanted no pics taken and said the new owners said we didn't deserve a pic.My mom asked why the new owners whom adopted Buddy from a rescue wouldn't feel warm in thier heart to be able to bring closure to a 7 year old little boy, so he would know that his dog was in good hands.Goergeann said the new owners said we gave up our rights and we don't deserve one.My mom told Georgeann that she promised a pic from the start and that she needed to make it right. My mom asked Georgeann that if the new owners ever gave him back if she could call and let us adopt him back, because personally we don't trust anyone now after all of this. We didn't find Georgeanns reasons to be justifyible. She was angry and told my mom that she would 'euthanize the dog before she ever gave him back',Georgeann's husband grabbed the phone and told my mom that Georgeann didn't mean that and my mom heard her yell in the background 'yes I did, I would kill that dog before I ever gave him back'.NOW, on that note --- WE WERE GREAT OWNERS--WE LOVED OUR DOG-- if we didn't care we would have sent him to Animal Control-we had no problem with the 200.00 fee for them to take him we would have paid more knowing they were going to find him a good home. And they assurred us that if he never got a home that he would always have a home on their ranch for the rest of his life. I gave them his toys, dog bed, food and his year supply if comfortis. We had him neutered in July he had all his shots and tags.We took very good care of him.. Now finally my brother calls Georgeann and George about the situation because he feels bad to have recommended them to us. Asked them why they would say that to our mother. George told my brother that it sounded to him like the boy has a mental problem or bad parenting for him to still be hung up on a dog that he hasn't seen in three months...Now if you claim that your a pet rescue which would be for your love for animals to want to start this organization then for one you threatening a dog's life would never be a thought to you.and anyone who has a pet knows it takes more than 3 months to get over it. So George you your not only calling my son a mental case but probably more than half the people in this world. Now with all that has been said I have to question what has really happened to Buddy. I didn't think your excuse for a pic was justifyable and everything thereafter. The things you've said to my family doesn't sound like someone who has devoted there lives to rescuing pets. Maybe thats how you started out, but I have to think your wore out with it. Its time to find a new profession, because this one has seemed to make you hard and heartless. I'm sure when you started out you had your heart in it, but somewhere along the way you lost it.It happens to the best of us. This letter was not intended to upset you, if it does maybe it is for your own good. I have left nothing out in this letter, this is exactly what happened. Sorry,I couldn't sum it up any shorter,I just wanted to make sure I covered everything. - Ms.Sauto

My experience with Georgeann’s Homeless Hounds has been fantastic and I recommend anyone interested in rescue, foster or adoption of an animal use them. I adopted my dog from Georgeann after a referral from my veterinarian. She frequently rescues animals that are on their last days before euthanization. Mine was one of those on “death row”. I’ve also taken her a rescue and get updates on how the rescue is doing with her new adopted family. She’s been available by phone and in person to answer any of my questions and concerns. She’s even gone as far as helping me (day or night) with advice and a sympathetic ear when my handicapped parakeet was dying, my guinea pig was having a seizure, my cockatoo was picking some feathers and my 14 year old dogs were on their last days. This she did for free. I’ve been to one of her adopt-a-thon’s and have personally seen how she screens prospective new owners in this atmosphere. She is VERY thorough. I did this prior to adopting my dog from her as well as spending time on the organizations website to review the conditions of the ranch and her animals. I’ve personally witnessed her intake of rescued animals as well as the adoption of them to new families. She is consistent with the handling of both situations. Anyone fearful of meeting Georgeann off the ranch premises but always in the same public place (Hardee’s in Weeki Wachi) need only ask her about previous experiences when it was allowed. After 2 years dealing with Georgeann (Homeless Hounds) I no longer question this practice and, to this day continue to meet her in the same place. Management is familiar with her and has dealt with her situation the whole time I’ve known her. By the way, they make yummy shakes for my trip home. I again express to anyone using this blog to see how Georgeann’s Homeless Hounds operates know that I will never use another organization. She came highly recommended to me and I continue to pass that word on.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

how easy it is to deal with them and how honest they have been with me.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

I've met one of the veterinary technicians that attend to animals on their ranch as well as board members and volunteers. All have been knowledgeable about the practice and have shown empathy and concern for the animals.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Save all of the homeless and needy animals.

Ways to make it better...

I could have donated enough to heal all of their injured and special needs animals as well as keep them operating for as long as there are homeless animals.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

finding enough money to care for their animals and finding enough people willing to provide a forever home.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am so pleased with my experiences with Georgeann's Homeless Hounds and recommend them to everyone caring to provide forever homes.
