More and more, governments are not being trusted to get aid dollars to the grass roots, especially when those governments have poor corruption ratings. This U.S. non-profit supports the work of Women, Environment and Health(WEH), an NGO in Cameroon. Board members have direct and long-standing relationships with the WEH director and board in Cameroon and have total confidence that every dollar it sends goes directly for the purposes stated. Further, board members of The Friends of WEH, visit Cameroon regularly and see for themselves what is being done in rural villages. You can't go wrong with this one!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Cameroon. I could see how our funds go directly to the support of orphans and vulnerable children in school and the support of the truck we purchased for use there.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

figure out how to exponentially grow its donor base.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

that it supports a Cameroonian NGO which I totally trust. When visiting in Cameroon I saw first hand how my contributions change lives in Cameroon.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

outstanding. The Cameroonian NGO supported by this U.S.Non-profit is headed by a woman who received her Masters Degree in Public Health in the U.S. She has recruited a strong, committed staff that I saw work exceptionally long hours with great compassion.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

keep orphans and vulnerable children in school and assure that they receive vocational training. It would empower women and teach them skills necessary to rise out of poverty and help improve the living conditions in their communities.

Ways to make it better...

I could spend more time in Cameroon -- which I plan to do in Jan-Mar, 2010.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

To create long-term sustainability, a goal entirely within reach.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Donors to the Friends of WEH can be sure that their funds go exactly where designated in the work of WEH in Cameroon.
