What I love about this group, in addition to its admirable mission and friendly staff, is the focus and organization of its events. Volunteers who show up for neighborhood tree plantings are efficiently assigned to small groups which spread out and systematically plant trees--If you like a sense of accomplishment and teamwork and don't mind dirt--join this crowd. (You also usually get snacks)

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

neighborhoods where trees have been added

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

helping groups of people join together and accomplish something they would not do on their own

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very knowledgeable, friendly, mostly young

Ways to make it better...

it wasn't cold and muddy in Portland in the winter time

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am currently volunteering at Friends of Trees. Nothing makes me feel better than tree-planting! It's so much fun, and the people who both work and volunteer there are really nice, down-to-earth and happy people. I'm really enjoying my experience there!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The tree-canopy of Portland has increased greatly over the years, thanks in part to Friends of Trees

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Put away some extra funds so that a few very low-income people could get free trees planted on their property.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Planting trees!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very enthusiastic, down-to-earth, positive people!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Plant some trees for free, for those people who have absolutely NO money to spend on buying a tree for their property.

Ways to make it better...

So far, so good.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Funding is always a challenge.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Friends of Trees is an amazingly great organization - as a 3rd generation Oregonian, I really appreciate their mission and their passion for grass roots community involvement.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

hundreds if not thousands of new trees being planted in the neighborhoods of Portland, Oregon.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Make it more sustainable by having less waste and more reusable / sustainable trucks etc.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Everyone has great passion for bettering our community and planting more lovely trees.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Organized and passionate

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Pay their volunteers to increase their ability to perform and pay their bills.

Ways to make it better...

Can't think of anything here - maybe a little more recognition for food service volunteers.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

That the core work is done by volunteers that are not adequately compensated for repeat and stellar performances.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I love Friends of Trees!!!
