Friends of the Children, Klamath Basin Chapter, is a unique, one on one adult relationship with a deserving child. They hire paid mentors who select children in the first grade and see and work with that child for 12 years! The main goals are that the children will graduate from high school or at least get their GED's, the children will NOT get involved negatively with the justice system, and they will NOT become teen parents. Mentors work with their children at least four hours every week, one on one, 52 weeks of the year. They help with homework, they introduce the children to community outings like parks, walking trails, museums, dog shows, bowling, etc. A good deal of time is spent helping with homework or dealing with difficulties at school. This is an amazing organization that truly makes a difference in a child's life by sticking with them through the good times and the bad times and letting that child know there will always be someone who cares!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

to find a way to fund more mentors so more children can be served through this program!
