This is a very well run organization both from a financial perspective and in terms of its support to the Park. It is a pleasure and an honor to serve on the Board.

Working with the friends organization as both a volunteer and Board member is very rewarding. The opportunitiy to support the mission of the Park to preserve our natural spaces for scientific study and the enjoyment of the surrounding community is critcally important to the well being of the Sonoran desert region. I would encourage others to take advantage of this opportunity and volunteer with this organization.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the education of local children regarding the Sonoran desert environment.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the ability to particpate directly in the Parks efforts preserve and study Park wildlife and habitat.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

fantastic

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

ensure the legacy of the Park for years to come.

I've been a board member over the years on maybe a dozen groups. Friends of Saguaro National Park has to be one of my favorite. It is well run, mostly by volunteers who love the saguaros and other resources of this special place. We raise money that is turned over to the park for environmental education, science research (often involve youth and volunteers), and other programs, and we educate and involve the public in this beautiful desert place. I am so grateful that the saguaros are protected and well-stewarded, and that a group like this supports the National Park Service in doing this work.

I am an employee at Saguaro national Park and have been here 20+ years. Our park gretaly benefits from the work done by the Friends of Saguaro National Park.

One of the areas that the Friends raise funding for is the park's environmental education program. Thanks to their efforst, many more schools are able to come to the park for a visit through the Friends being able to pay for the school buses. Frinds of Saguaro National Park also raised funds to build an education ramada at the park's Rincon Mountain District (East). Each year, this site hosts hndreds of elementary school children participating in hands-on fieldtrips.

The most impressive thing about our Friends of Saguaro National Park is their can-do spirit. They go out of their way to assist us in what we'd like to accomplh here at the p[ark.

I have been a FOSNP advisory board member for the past 1.5 years, but life-long resident of Tucson. Saguaro National Park is one of our nation's crown jewels, and has been a source of great enjoyment to me and my family for as long as I can remember. Many year's worth of Thanksgiving picnics, birthday parties, countless hikes and bikerides at the park, and daily opportunities to gaze at the mountains --- all these activities enrich my life. The park has several non-profit partners, all playing different roles, and all so vital to help the park sustain its operation and enhance the public's enjoyment and understanding of the park. FOSNP is a stellar fund and friend-raising organization. They raise vital funds effectively and efficiently. The management is first class and they enjoy a solid relationship with the park and the supporters of the park. Hats off to FOSP

FOSNP has a great relationship with the park leadership and staff and is in tune with the challenges facing the park. Both are dedicated to making the park an asset to the community and it is an effective partnership.

I recently joined the Board after years of enjoying the park. The Friends, through the leadership of the executive director, support a wide range of issues and works in great cooperation with the NPS staff. Facilities and trail improvement, educational programs, buffelgrass removal and the cactus census are just osme of the areas the Friends are involved with.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the breadth of their experience and their dedication to working to support the park.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

dramatically increase the appreciation and use of the park across all the communities in Tucosn.

The Friends' work in supporting education is especially importnat for Saguaro National Park because it is located so close to the city of Tucson (and is actually surrounded by the metyropolitan area). This means that the Firends' work exposes many kids to nature and the park who wold normally not have such an opportunity. A great example is the 2011 BioBlitz, in which the Friends' involvement made transportation and overnight experiences available to many local elementary and high school students.

This organization was indeed a "grass roots" organization., The volunteers who wanted to help the park put up their own mney in 1997 to get the non-profit started and the first year raised $12,000. Since then it has grown to a 6 figure budget with an exceptionally able Excutive Director. All the work ,except for the ED, is done by volunteers and that provides the good feeling of ownership and personal belief in the value of the park. The park is located just a few miles from the urban city and the people of the area fight diligently to keep it "wild and wonderful ".

This is a terrific organization with the mission of supporting Saguaro National Park

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

In their efforts to support the upcoming BioBlitz event.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Assist in raising their profile within the local community

I give Friends of Saguaro National Park a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The organization actively pursues opportunities to partner with local educators (University of Arizona) to facilitate research and provide educational opportunities at various levels. Educating younger generations about our local natural resources is the best way to encourage long-term existence of the Saguaro National Monuments. The upcoming partnership with National Geographic, BioBlitz, is a wonderful sucess story of the groups ability to partner and raise the education level in the community.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My 2.5 year old daughter has had wonderful experiences at the park by learning about animals, plants, and hiking trails. Interest in the natural environment is installed at a young age.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Provided more educational opportunities and funding to bus school group to the parks. FOSNP already funds some bussing activities; however, a deeper impact is possible with additional support.
