This organization supports Saguaro National Park, which encompasses Tucson, Arizona. The organization provides funds and volunteer time to the Park. It is an invaluable resource for the park. Many projects would not happen if it was not for the efforts of this organization. It is run professionally by its executive director, Robert Newtson.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

fund raising for Saguaro National Park.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

find ways to donate more time and money.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

working with other dedicated board members, Park employees, and volunteers.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

all dedicated, cheerful people.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

build a new visitor center on the East side.

Ways to make it better...

I had more time and money to donate.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

fund raising during difficult economic times.

One thing I'd also say is that...

the organization is very fortunate to have Robert Newtson as its executive director.

I currently serve on the Board of this organization which with the public's help supports vital activities and services of the Saguaro National Park in Tucson, Arizona. These services would not be possible without the support of this organization!!!

I had a really good time at FoSNP. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's pretty obvious that the staff care about the park a lot and that helps people enjoy their visit even more. Visiting FoSNP has become an annual tradition for me, one that I hope to keep for many years to come.

Friends of Saguaro is a terrific organization that really promotes the national park well and ensures that visitors and potential visitors can take full advantage of the park's resources. I have visited many national parks and have not had the same experience with other affiliated groups. Because of Friends of Saguaro my family and I had a wonderful experience at the park and will hopefully be back soon!

The Friends of Saguaro National Park is able to involve seniors, students, visitors and others in protecting and enhancing this park, a national treasure. It has generated support for such on-the-ground items as benches, trails, environmental education ramada; has organized volunteer activities, including removal of invasive buffelgrass; and let's supporters know of how they can be involved in the park, such as the new trails plan.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

removing buffelgrass, fundraising/friendraising events, supporting Teacher/Ranger/Teacher program that builds a strong school-park bond, involving people in citizen science, such as the saguaro census.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

broaden its base of support.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

its diverse board and volunteer base.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly, knowledgeable, dedicated.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

solve a lot of the park's deferred maintenance, rebuild an outdated visitor center, fund a science/research program, reach out better to underserved populations who need to get out in the park.

Ways to make it better...

more people knew about the group and got involved.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

invasive buffelgrass that threatens to burn the desert.

The FoSNP supports and raises money for projects at Saguaro National Park, which is just outside Tucson AZ. They provide funds for research, plant and animal studies, educational programs, special events, facilities like picnic table and message boards, emergency equipment, and many other things. These programs enhance what the park could otherwise do. The board is made up of dedicated volunteers who work hard to make sure the park is a showcase of the Sonoran Desert.

I have been a member of the Board of FSNP for a number of years. FSNP is a supporting organization for a spectacular national park surrounding Tucson, Arizona. It raises money to fund educational programs for disadvantaged youngers in Pima County, Arizona and for other programs the park is unable to fund through appropriations. FSNP also seeks grant funds for capital programs. It recently raised $80,000 to build an open-air environmental education ramada. Environmental education, research and recreational are hallmarks of Saguaro National Park. I'm proud to support these programs through the efforts of FSNP.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

seeing youngsters visit and enjoy the park for the first time and leave in awe.
