Star was a mascot cat in a nursing home. She was always getting an eye infection, it appeared that her right eye had been poked out as a kitten, she was very sweet but, the nursing home refused to spend any more money on her. Star was also full of fleas and obviously had worms. Friends of Long Beach Animals were contacted by an employee and FOLBA took care of the surgery for her eye, with the advice of the veterinarian it was sewed up so no more infection would set in. Friends also took care of her other medical problems and found a permanent home for her that would take proper care of her for the rest of her life since the nursing home had lost interest in having her live there. She is deeply loved and now is in a forever home!

Friends of Long Beach Animals helped me find my permanent home. It took a while but, I sure am greatful for their help and kindness. I have been able to grow into a mature (maybe a bit awnry) cat but, feel I have fallen into a lap of luxury. I will be forever greatful.

I can't thank Friends of Long Beach Animal enough for the role they played in uniting me with a homeless and near death little miniature pinscher. She has a forever home now and we love her so much!! This organization works tirelessly to end pet overpopulation, teach children and adults humane education about animals, helps animals in need, and is a great asset to the animals and people of Long Beach.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I was united with a new best friend because of this organization. I also know that the number of animals that are euthanized at the Long Beach shelter has continued to decline because of this groups efforts.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Ask that more people in the city of Long Beach support this cause either by joining the membership, making a monetary donation, or donating their time to such a good cause.

Friends of Long Beach Animal Shelter AKA, Friends of Long Beach Animals just celebrated 20 years of service to the Long Beach Community. In the quest to end pet overpopulation the SNIP Program has paid the expense to contract veterinarians $652,488, altering more than 15, 100 animals. The Humane Education program spent more than $6,500 on books for all the Long Beach public libraries and all school libraries; taught over 40,000 students how to respect and be kind to animals and all life with the expenditure of $117,085. Rescueing only animals slated for euthanasia from the shelter, Friends have placed 175 animals into permanent and loving homes.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Saving the lives of thousands of animals that would have needlessly been born to face euthanasia or cruelty.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Try to get more supporters.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

They make a difference!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Fabulous.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Set up a program that would spay/neuter every pet in Long Beach and outlying cities. Improve Humane Education in the school system. Enhance and support the animal shelter and help improve their programs to fight animal cruelty and education of the public.

Ways to make it better...

The organization could aquire more funding.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Getting the message out about pet overpopulation and how to solve it. Education of humane issues.

One thing I'd also say is that...

This is one of the most hard working group of volunteers who do their work only for the love of animals and for no monatary gain.
