Free Arts for Abused Children

I have worked with, participated in and donated to several charies for children. I have never seen another one that is so well run. I am currently a Trustee of the Board of Directors of the Hollywood Arts Council. We have an outreach program Project S.O.A.R. It reaching a small population of the children of Hollywood in the elementary schools. We had too great loses. Shauna McClure became the Executive Director of Free Arts for Children. Trevi Fountation also left and became the Community Liason for the Foundation. I am amazed and so proud of all the success events. They have created a production company that is throughout the Los Angeles area. It is wonderful that some many abused children's souls are fed by the arts they have provided. They are heading up a dynamic staff that raising the conscientiousness and fundraising. The programing is so insightful and meaningful to the lives of these children and to our community as a whole. This foundation lets children know that than can make something beautiful and it opens the door to other things they can accomplish in life. The art they create is something permenant in their transitory lives. I truly believe that their programing and community outreach is making a huge difference.
I suggest that you open your hearts and write checks to allow them to reach more children to give them hope. In turn you will recieve the joy of giving and knowing that you too are making a difference.

As a donor I appreciate how the staff makes every dollar count. They work to find in-kind donors. They utilize every opportunity to find discounts and value in their purchases to serve these children. It's a tough economic time, as we all know, so I like how there is nothing frivolous about the staff, their offices, or the way they spend the limited amount of money that I can send. I trust that the donations I send are well used for the benefit of the children and families.

I attended a reception where the work of several young women who live in a residential facility and participated in a Free Arts project was shown. I saw their pride and self-esteem grow as fellow residents expressed their amazement at what the young artists had produced. This particular project helped not only the young women who participated in the project, but also benefited the in-house audience.

I don't know what I would do to change this organization, except find more money to enable them to provide more programs to help even more children and families.
Working with Free Arts for Abused Children has been one of the most fulfilling experiences in my college career. My student volunteer group has been working seamlessly with Free Arts for four years and when we wanted to expand that relationship by giving back to Free Arts, they reciprocated our energy. They were completely on-board for our Pillow Fight program, which has raised awareness for Free Arts and raised over $5,000 total in the two years of the program. We have been able to effectively deploy the money to fund more Free Arts projects and expand their presence in the Los Angeles community. Free Arts has truly been amazing.

I can't begin to tell you what a difference this makes for these children. It gives them a place to be free and their art refelects that. You simply must see some of their work. It is amazing to see the incredibly beautiful work that they create. The people who run this organization have been some of the most honest and good hearted people I have ever come across!!! Keep up all the great work!!!

I have been a contributor to this wonderful organization for the past 20 years and I have seen first hand how the children treated under this program transform themselves into productive, well adjusted human beings. I strongly recommend the organization who makes all this possible.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
fund raising as it is with most organization.
One thing I'd also say is that...
By starting early with these programs, you save a life--giving a child a much better chance in life by instilling self esteem, building character and giving them life lessons that they normally wouldn't have.
