I had a similar experience as the other reviewers for this Foundation. "Steve" came on as a very pushy, borderline rude, salesman. He did not listen to me when I explained I am unemployed at this time and have no discretionary income. He started an auction spiel "if you can't send $100 how about $50. I said no that I can not. He countered his offer to $30. I said yes but would not give him my credit card into. I insisted he send an envelope. I am very glad I thought to do a review check before I sent a donation. I am sending back the donation pledge with a copy of the reviews from this website and no check.

6 cents on every dollar actually goes to Vets?! Scam. And they call constantly!

Got a call from same guy. Same spiel from him and I pledged to donate a smaller sum. Glad I read these reviews because I feel the same way. I was sent a pledge sheet, but I will not be sending anything in. I hope the organization AND Steve are reading these...BTW, I wouldn't give them any stars if I could.

received a call from someone named Steve (240 722 1945). Refused to speak to me, wanted my partner only. I hung up. He called the following day and I introduced myself as my partner. he said he was "Steve from the Foundation for American Veterans." I hung up, recalled the number and pressed the button to be on their "do not call" list. I can't decide if this outfit is scammy, scummy, or both.

They called tonight to my number asking for someone named Don who never lived at my address in the 10 years this house number has existed, did so after 7PM when folks should be relaxing after a crappy day of work, and wanted me to donate with a credit card. I asked them to mail me something and I'd respond to their mailer. It took a few folks to take my address, and I'll be looking in the mailbox for their response. Would love to hear they are legit, but I have my doubts.

Like several recent posters I just received a call from "Steve" asking for a $30 to $50 donation (an amount that gets ratcheted down quickly with each sign of hesitation on your part) to said charity. This guy is good: he has a cheery voice, great fake enthusiasm and could probably sell ice water to Eskimos. Since I happened to be sitting in front of a computer at the time I did a search about FFAV while he was giving me his spiel. Seeing that it appears to be a terrible organization, I decided to try out something a friend of mine who used to do telemarketing told me caused him to quit his job on the spot. (He hated it but this was the last straw so to speak even though the money was good).
My friend said he was in the middle of his pitch when the person he was calling very politely said, "hey hang on a sec so I can get my glasses and write down this info. It sounds like just what I need." My friend said sure thing and began waiting patiently. After a minute or two he heard what sounded like water being run in a sink and then some sloshing sounds as if something was being washed. A pause. And then he heard a vacuum cleaner start and it continued for the 5 minutes my friend stayed on the line. Poor Steve. I wonder if he's still holding. I recommend this technique for all telemarketing calls.

Thanks for this site. I received a call form Foundation for American Veterans several weeks ago. The first amounts that were asked for were too much for me. I said I could give $15 I was asked for a card number but told the caller i did not give out my number on the phone.
Today I received the pledge reminder and though to myself I should check them out. After what I have read here, they will get nothing.

This right after the "Grandma, I'm in jail" call a couple of days ago it seems like scammers are out in full force.

Phone call from very pushy person who would not take no for an answer. Since I had never heard of them, I hung up and checked BBB. Appears they are a scam: no financials posted.
