I've had the same experience with this "charity." I initially received a call from "Steve" early one morning. He tried to get me to donate $50, but finally coaxed me into pledging $30. Then he put on someone to verify my donation, and she wanted my credit card info. I said I would not do that. She said she could save me time and a stamp! I said, no, send me something in the mail. I just received their info in the mail, but since his phone call, I have been receiving daily phone calls from him from various phone numbers. He always seems to call at the most inopportune times, I guess because it's their best chance to find someone home. We even received a phone call on Thanksgiving. My husband answered one night and told him I was not at this number. He apologized and said he would note that, but that didn't stop him from calling again tonight. I feel it's almost to the point of harassment when someone calls you that often and ignores your requests to not call back. After I received their information in the mail, I looked them up and found these reviews and other web sites giving them a bad rating as almost none of their donation funds actually go to Veterans. Needless to say, I will not be donating to them.

These people should be ashamed of themselves. You would do better to give $10.00 to the guy on the street with a sign saying he is a homeless veteran and hungry. At least if he is a scam he had to dress up in some pretty shabby rags and stand out in the street and weather.
I resent someone using my service to pad their pockets. I served for all Americans, even these scumbags. But I am not going to pay again. If you are a veteran, put $10.00 in your other pocket and tell them that you just made a donation that 100% went directly to benefit a follow veteran.

I was surprised to receive a call on my work phone and they asked for somebody else and I said it was a wrong number. The rep said he could speak to me and mentioned donations to veterans. I was interested and I was ready to donate and asked him to provide some more information before proceeding and that I would call back to donate. I looked them up and found that this appears to be a scam.

I just got a call at my work number asking for "Eileen". I said - wrong number and the friendly gentleman on the other end of the line, said, he could talk to me as well. He made is pitch for a donation. Well, who wants to say they don't want to support our vets? So I agreed and the next thing I know I am transferred to a "verifier" who asked to take my credit card number. I told her no, I would not provide my card over the phone to an agency I am not familiar with. She said this way would save me time and a stamp. I said no - I would not do that and so she finally agreed to send me a pledge card. These people were very smooth, very friendly. I will send their pledge back with no check and a note that I don't appreciate the fact that they are scamming people and taking money that should be going to our Vets.

When I got a call from an overly friendly man seeking my help for our vets, I was suckered into making a pledge. Then someone got on the phone asking for my credit card number which I flatly refused to give. I have received a solicitation in the mail but before sending my pledge I found this site. I have ripped up the invoice based on the comments posted here! I will donate to the Vets but not through this organization

I received a call from this "charity" last night and from the beginning, something didn't seem right. I honestly couldn't tell if it was a pieced together recording or a real person as there were odd pauses & the voice was sometimes "different". Finally, at the end, when I agreed to donate IF they sent me a donation card, he put someone on the phone to "confirm" my donation. Once she got on, she asked for my credit card information and when I told her they were supposed to send me a donation card & I would mail it back, she got pushing, acting as if I didn't donate RIGHT THEN, the veterans may not get what they need. As veterans ourselves (both me and my husband), we ALWAYS donate to veterans/military organizations and I really DON'T appreciate the scam that I believe this organization to be & I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend anyone donating to them!

My mother is 86 years old and per my experience this organization is targeting senior citizens. I answered her phone and the man asked if I was "my mother's name". I replied I was her daughter - he hung up. I answered another call and this time when he said is this _____, I said yes and he began his pitch. I will be filing a complaint. Shame on you for trying to take advantage of the elderly!! I also noted these calls come in the late evening. Further, you have a horrible BBB rating and several warnings.

This number 404-445-2923 has called me a few times today on my business number. When I picked up after the third call, they identified themselves as the Foundation for American Veterans. They asked for a donation of $50. Being a supporter of the veterans I agreed to do so but when they asked for a credit card I said no. I don't make donations by phone or with a credit card. When I was transferred to another person who was taking my mailing address, I could swear I was talking with a machine so when I didn't give them a city or zip code, I was convinced I was talking with a machine. I'll see if I do get something in the mail but they don't have a chance of getting a dime out of me. After what I've read on line about this organization, they should be ashamed of themselves and shut down immediately.

I told this person that I had a limited income. He asked for $100, told him no, said he understood and said how about $50 or $20. He asked for my cr. card # before I agreed to a donation. I may be old, but I am far from stupid. I said you are putting the cart before the horse, boy, send me something in the mail. He said he would be happy to do that and would send it right out for my $20 pledge. I said - "Or under $20". No comment, just thanked me for my support. In less than 3 full days, I got my $20 pledge reminder. Six days later I rec'd another one. Needless to say, they will get $0.00 from me. After looking up this group, I would rather give my $ directly to anyone but them! I am forced to give them a one star rating as I would not be able to post this without a rating.
