When at PetSmart one day, unbeknown to me, my husband fell in love with an old cat. We learned the Tom had been abandoned and on his own for about a year until a volunteer from For The Love of Cats Inc. managed to capture him. It wasn't until several days later after finally learning of my husband's dispondancy that he REALLY wanted that old cat whose ears were curled like boxer's. Have recently moved to Naples we wanted to be more settled before adopting a "kitten." However, when we inquired further about him Jan and Jim told us of his visible sores, problematic eye which needed surgery and lack of sufficient nourishment when they acquired him. He was neutered, had eye surgery and prepared for adoption when we first saw him. We have had Mr. Mann for almost a year and he is the most wonderful cat I have ever owned. He is intelligent critter, minds when told no hopping on counters, beds, chairs and the like made friends with our, also adopted dog and of course "rules" in his polite way. If it wasn't for the kindness, caring and dedication of Jan and Jim this cat would not have survived. They will go out of their way to help no matter what small "problem" one might have. And, having seen their facility it is by far much better than those I have seen in Vet's. It is CLEAN, light, airy and not crowded. Their combined dedication is outstanding. There should be more people in this world like them!!!!

Our two wonderful cats, Charley & Henry, (litter mates) were adopted from For the Love of Cats. They were really well cared for as kittens and we give Jan and Rich all the credit for that. It is truly a caring shelter. Charley and Henry are 4 yrs. old now, healthy, affectionate, marvelous parts of our family.

For the love of cats is a truly compassionate no kill shelter. Jim and Jan Rich are always available to help in whatever way they can with any situation necessary to benefit cats. They go the distance to provide care and safety for all abandoned cats. The world needs more caring people like the Riches and their volunteers.

My husband and I became volunteers after adopting two kittens from FLOC. The directors and volunteers go to extraordinary lengths to provide loving care to all of the cats that pass through the shelter. It truly is a no kill shelter In one case we paid for a volunteer to fly from Florida to Buffalo, New York to rescue an abandoned cat that was originally adopted by FLOC. Recently we had 2 cats with persistent and extensive ring worm. The staff and volunteers spent hundreds of man hours treating and loving them so that they were able to be adopted once they were cured. Just recently a woman who feeds a feral colony arrived at the shelter in tears with a cat in her arms. She had known him for 8 years and found him by the side of the road. Once we determined that he was indeed dead the volunteer asked if she could take him home to bury him in her yard. The director lovingly wrapped him in towels and tucked a catnip mouse between his paws while saying a prayer for him. As you can imagine it was a tearfull event for all of us there. Normally, however, our tears are tears of joy when a cat goes to a loving home.

For the Love of Cats is a wonderful organization. My sister has cats and dogs and ran on hard times a few months back and For the Love of Cats was there to help her with food for both Dogs and Cats. They are the most wonderful, compassionate and caring people. Our world needs more like them. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for helping my sister when she was in need. They are out daily in search of animals needing assistance.

For the Love of Cats has been a huge help to me over the years since they came about. They helped me spay and find a great home for a stray cat that showed up at my home a few years ago. They do such wonderful work over on Marco Island caring for ferals and rescuing strays. Jan is always so helpful when I have contacted her in need of help regarding other stray cats that I have been taking care of. If I lived closer to their shelter I would be more than willing to volunteer there.

They are a Great Group to work with!! You call tell them about a stray you have seen and they are right out to set safe traps so they get get it help,a new home or to have it fixed and release back to were they caught it! They are great with all the cats they take care of and make sure they go to great homes!!!!!!! They have taken about 20 kittens from were I work and have found homews for all that were not to sick to find a home!!!

What a wonderful organization For The Love of Cats is. I was very impressed by the faclity. It is VERY clean and welcoming for both the cats who are there and for people who who come to adopt and who volunteer there.
When I stopped by Pet Smart just to "look" at the cats/kittens that were open for adoption, I had just lost a BELOVED cat and did not think I was ready to adopt. Until a tiny black ball of fur was plopped in my hands, and I was in LOVE...
Jim was there to greet me and answer all my many questions. Both Jan & Jim were a great support and you can see their love of cats truely through in all they do.

I have known Jan & JIm for many years now. My husband and I own at the Eagles Nest Timeshare in Marco where a colony of cats are being fed by For The Love of Cats. Joyce West is the volunteer who feeds this site. I met her one time on a visit to our timeshare. As it turns out, I knew many of Joyce's coworkers at the Marriott from Atlanta where I also do cat rescue. Joyce and I began talking about the cats and she told me about Jan & Jim. I made a visit to their shelter and was very impressed by how clean and professional it is. I visit them two times a year whenever I go back to Marco Island. I have been so impressed with them that I even take one of my grand daughters who loves cats as much as I do. I know the island's cats could not survive without this organization! I am now even happier that Jan & Jim have been taking in more adult cats as they need help just as the kittens do :) Fabulous teamwork!!
