The Food Empowerment Project's executive director, Lauren Ornelas, presented a wide array of issues related to food justice at my high school. I have also volunteered for the group. In all cases, Lauren speaks with clarity and a strong vision for the FEP- she wants justice for both humans and animals involved in food production and shares specific examples of what we can all do to help.

My classmates were both fascinated and motivated by Lauren's presentation. They all expressed a desire to get involved with the issues Lauren talked about, particularly environmental racism, and noted that they learned a lot. I definitely felt similarly, particularly when I learned about the FEP's food access survey.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
The Food Empowerment Project's management is right on, but the scope of their efforts is limited by their lack of funding.
